Article: Former Team Member - Taxes – W-2 and Other Tax Documents

What this covers and who it’s for

This article helps former Target team members access W-2 forms and other tax and benefit documents. It explains how to use Paperless Employee, when tax forms are available, how to order older W-2 forms, and what to do if your Social Security number is incorrect.

Access your W-2 in Paperless Employee

Former Target team members can use Paperless Employee to access a current-year W-2, download a copy, or order a replacement or prior-year W-2.

To access your W-2:

To create a Paperless Employee account, you must provide your:

  • 10-digit team member number
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security number

When you will receive your W-2

Target provides IRS Form W-2 by January 31 each year.

Electronic W-2 forms are typically available in mid-January.

Paper W-2 forms are mailed or distributed by January 31 to the address on file in Workday as of December 31.

Download your current-year electronic W-2

If you opted for an electronic W-2 before January 1, you can view or download your current tax year W-2 in Paperless Employee.

To download your current-year W-2:

  • Go to Paperless Employee
  • Log in or create an account.
  • Select Year-End Statements.
  • Select Download (PDF).
  • Save the PDF for your records.

Important information about current-year W-2 downloads

  • Do not select a checkbox or go to Complete Order if you only need the current-year download.
  • Free electronic access is available through October 15 of the filing year.
  • Fees apply after October 15.

Order a replacement or prior-year W-2

Former Target team members can order replacement or prior-year W-2 forms through Paperless Employee. Fees apply.

In Year-End Statements:

  • Select Show All Years.
  • Check the box next to the W-2 form or forms you need.
  • Choose Download (PDF) or Mail.
  • Review your order and submit payment.
  • If you choose Download (PDF) after payment, the download is available for 10 minutes.

Correct an incorrect Social Security number

Your Social Security number must be updated in Workday before Target can issue a corrected W-2.

To request the correction:

  • Complete Form W-4 from the IRS website.
  • Include your full Social Security number and signature.
  • Add the completed form as an attachment when creating an HR Request.

Important Note on submitting an HR Request:

If you left Target before May 1, 2026; please go to Target.com/Team and submit an HR Request.

If you left Target on or after May 1, 2026; you have access to Workday for 16 months from the date you left. Please go to Workday, select "Former Target Team Member" and log in to submit an HR Request.

After the update is approved, a corrected W-2, called Form W-2C, will be issued automatically for up to the past three years.

The process may take up to four weeks after the Social Security number correction is completed.

If you receive your W-2 electronically, the corrected version will appear as an additional page at the end of the existing PDF.
