@missalenius_science I feel like I'm constantly being bombarded with ads for serums and face masks and oils- it all gets very overwhelming. If I've learned anything about skincare, it's that simpler is better. I'm working on a couple of blog posts about my experience with Accutane and how it has impacted my skincare routine. One of the biggest changes I made was simplifying my routine. Currently, my morning routine is: CeraVe hydrating cleanser, Neutrogena hydroboost extra-dry gel cream, and SPF (usually some combination of Supergoop products). My PM routine isn't much different: cleanser, medication (I alternate between a prescription retinoid and Curology) and CeraVe PM facial moisturizing lotion. Occasionally, I spot treat acne with hydrocolloid patches (check out my blog for the science behind those!) Pretty much everything I use was recommended to be by a dermatologist. I don't use any serums, masks, or other skincare products. And y'all- my skin has never been clearer or healthier. (And I'm saving money not buying a bunch of products that weren't helping my skin). If you're struggling with sensitive skin or acne, I would recommend trying to simplify your routine: minimize harsh exfoliants, dyes, fragrances, and pore-clogging products. You can always slowly add products back in (which should let you easily identify what products might be causing issues for you). Let me know if you have any specific skincare questions you would like for me to address on my blog 👇🏻
