Works in Google Play Store

Worked for me! Go to the Google Play store. Next Payment & subscriptions. Tap “Redeem code”. Easy peasy. Gift card took a little over an hour to arrive!

Waste of my time.

Being forced to make an account just to be able to make a purchase is bad enough as is. Following up with canceling it under "technical issue" with no further elaboration is another.
