Q: I have used this razor/shaver for about 10 years and they continue to grow mold in all of the crevices. I have tried cleaning with brushes and mold & mildew sprays to no avail. Please re-design!

  • A: Holding the Hydro Silk Trimstyle with the razor end up and the Schick logo facing you, twist the bottom half of the unit to the left and pull the bottom half down. Insert a AAA Lithium battery into the white tube on the bottom half of the unit, with the + side facing down. With the bottom half slightly turned to the left (button will be on left side), re-attach the bottom half of the razor to the top half by pushing the white tube on the bottom half into the green opening on the top half; then twist the bottom half to the right to secure and close.

    Died. No longer works.

    Started to die after a month or two. I had to bang it around to make it work. Changing batteries didn't work. Stopped working completely after 5 months.

    Dies fast

    This works great until it doesn't. I've owned 3 of these over the years. The first one lasted 8ish years, I bought a 2nd when it died, and it lasted less than a month. I purchased a 2nd one assuming that one was deffective, and the 3rd one died after a month too. I am quite sad. I won't be replacing it a 3rd time.

    Not working as long anymore

    Love this razor and especially the trimmer. I have been purchasing for years but I find that each time I buy one, it is working a shorter and shorter amount of time, sometimes a few months at most.

    I've had to purchase 2 in the last 6 months and everytime it no longer works even with a good quality battery. no longer buying this item. This razor used to last at least 3 years plus.

    Garbage Razors

    Awful! I had an old handle so I decided to get these for travel so I don’t have to take my usual razor out of the shower. That was a big mistake! I remembered these being fine before, but this time it was very dull right out of the package and I couldn’t get a close shave. Worse, it left razor burns and nicks all over my legs, and took a small chunk out of my knee. All this was while using a high quality shave oil and trying to be extra careful. I haven’t hated a razor so much since the last time I had to use a Bic disposable. I will definitely be buying a second handle from favorite brand for future travel. On the upside, Target refunded me no questions asked. They are excellent about that!

    Mediocre with zero durability

    Believe the reviews, this breaks within a few months and you have to replace it. No battery change will help. Durability is a huge issue. It works fine as a bikini trimmer although I often have to go over the same spot several times. Extremely wasteful and frustrating. Try keeping it out of the shower away from moisture when not in use and try not to have to ever take it apart because that’s also often when it breaks.

    They used to be high quality but now are made to break after only a few months. Don't bother replacing the battery, bc it was designed to break to force you to buy another one.

    Good but not reliable

    Had the same experience as others. This was my very first trimmer ever about five years ago, it lasted a few years and the battery life was excellent. When it came time to replace, they just didn’t last very long anymore. So wasteful to be throwing them out each time and it’s a shame because as a trimmer it is so good. I’m on like the fifth one and have to be switching out a battery with each use. Another detail that seems unlogical is the power button being uncovered now. It used to be completely covered by plastic and you didn’t have to worry about water dripping around it unlike now. You have to run the head under water to sort of pressure wash and it’s sort of a hassle to be careful with it.
