It depends on which iPad you mean by "iPad (A16)".
The Apple 20W USB‑C Power Adapter is just the wall charger.
To charge an iPad, you also need a compatible cable.
If your iPad has a USB‑C port (most newer iPads, including the newer iPad models with A14 or A16 chips), you'll use a USB‑C to USB‑C cable with the 20W adapter.
If your iPad has a Lightning port (older iPad models), you'll need a USB‑C to Lightning cable with the 20W adapter.
So the adapter itself is compatible with both USB‑C and Lightning iPads, provided you use the correct cable. The adapter does not replace the cable.

A very well-made and safe power block
This Apple power block works really well. After buying several power blocks by different manufacturers malfunction, and one catch on fire, I will only use official Apple power blocks. I’ve never had a problem with an Apple power block or heard of anybody else having one. It is well worth the extra money to have the peace of mind knowing that it is going to work properly and not cause a fire. It is very well-made and high-quality. I highly recommend this Apple power block.
