A portion of the sales of this Charitable Chime benefits scholarship and education programs at the Barbershop Harmony Society a society dedicated to the preservation and encouragement of barber shop quartet singing in America. Our Barbershop Harmony Chime is tuned to the harmonies of a barbershop quartet which includes a lead melody note a high tenor harmony a bass fundamental harmony and a baritone note that completes the chord. Barbershop harmony is generally considered to be one of the few uniquely American-born musical styles. It takes its roots from musical traditions of the late 19th century particularly in New Orleans and is thought to be a precursor of jazz. This classic-style chime plays notes that are pleasing to the ear and are sure to instill a sense of nostalgia for simpler times.
