Q: Can I make hot coffee directly into this cup?

  • A: I’ve had about 3 weeks and one burst when I took it out of the microwave. Spewed hot water on my foot. I will be returning all that I bought. Also made a consumer report to Target.

Q: BrBorosilicate is supposed to be unbreakable. If this is dropped, will it break?

  • A: Yes, they will break depending on the height of the drop and the material of the floor. I generally don’t have a problem because I am used to handling crystal stemware so take care. I have had 2 other items of borosilicate, one by my husband who hit the kitchen faucet with the cup. My husband does tend to break a lot of items that even had survived young children using them so while he doesn’t think he’s clumsy, he is possibly just careless and doesn’t pay attention to what he’s doing.

    Dangerous expooding glass

    We have had these for 2-3 weeks and lives them but just made a cup of hot tea in the microwave and it burst at the bottom spewing hot tea on my foot. Will be returning all and reporting this issue.

    Nice Mug

    This is a nice little mug & seems pretty sturdy. The pink color is very pretty. I want to thank Target for the careful packing to ensure that this item arrived unbroken. I greatly appreciate it! The other big box store needs to take a lesson in shipping as my items have arrived broken from them.

    I have the yellow, green and blue colors and I wish they made more because I'd buy them in an instant! I have not had any durability issues, they wash well in the dishwasher and the handle stays cool after use in the microwave. I cannot speak for how they ship as I bought them in store. Idk how these people are handling their mugs to have them break so easily, but it's clearly not from average use!

    VERY durable mugs!

    I bought a two mugs to use for a craft project, hoping to chemically etch a stencil onto them, and let me tell you, these mugs CANNOT BE DESTROYED. They're made of borosiliate glass, which I learned cannot be etched except with a laser or highly-toxic acids. And even when I shifted to epoxy paint, it just peeled right off. Soooo... whether their durability is a good thing or a bad thing depends on how you want to use them, but they should last some time.
