This is my first book to read by Mary Alford. And oh my goodness. For a Love Inspired this is one intense story. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I often wanted to put it down but couldn't. I had to know “who dun it” and I was shocked. She kept me guessing and my heart literally pounding through the entire story. The characters in Amish Country Killer are well developed with strong personalities. And issues. They all have issues that they need help with. But then don’t we all? This makes them feel more real. Alford also does a great job of describing the countryside with its mountains and coal mines, including a few surprises about the terrain. Honestly, this book is full of surprises. If you enjoy a suspense book that isn’t graphic yet leaves nothing to the imagination, and keeps you wanting to read through the night, then Amish Country Killer is a good one for you. If you can read it after dark. I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

If you are ready to pick your mouth off the floor, then I have the book for you. You will not see this coming! Women are dropping like flies and who is behind this. Diana, chief of police, and Micah are going to get to the bottom of this. Micah has a personal stake in this because he lost the woman he loves. What is the connection to the Amish community they live in? As they dig deeper, they are not prepared for what they find out while identifying these women. This was not a turn I was prepared for, but it just makes you want justice even more. Author Mary Alford does it like she always does by keeping you on the edge of your seat and your heart pounding to the very end. If you are one who likes to keep guessing who your villain is, pick up this book. Once again, Mrs. Alford just confirmed why I have to pick up every book she writes. My fingers can’t turn the pages fast enough. Fast-paced, gut wrenching, jaw dropping are just a few of the words I will use to describe this thriller.
A captivating tale!

I began reading Amish Country Killer by Mary Alford and, after doing the evening chores, I stayed up late to finish it. I enjoyed all the suspense, action, and mystery. I followed Diana, Micah, and Kip as they worked to solve the string of murders. The killer was always one step ahead of them. I was amazed that Diana and Micah were able to keep going after what they went through (I would want a paid four-week vacation after catching the killer). Kip, Diana’s K9 officer, is clever, brave, and a sweetheart. I had fun solving the whodunit. There are twists and turns throughout the story. I never knew what would happen next. It is a good thing that Diana and Micah had each other to rely on (once Diana learns to trust him that is). Naturally, with the duo spending considerable time together, it is inevitable that sparks will fly between them. Given the challenges the pair face, Diana and Micah will find their faith indispensable. I like how the story ended. Amish Country Killer is an enthralling tale with a narrow escape, hits to the head, a serial killer, teens trapped in a mine, an unexpected find, a trusty canine, a twisted mind, and a tenacious chief of police.
On the edge of the seat suspense.

I received this book as an ARC with no expectations of a positive review. Diana Fisher returns home to Rachel's Crossing as the police chief. She is responsible for rebuilding the police force after most of the officers and former police chief were let go because of corruption. She is sitting on the back porch of her childhood home when her K-9 dog, Kit takes off in the woods. After being attacked, she hears a scream. After following the sound, she finds an Amish women who is laying on the ground with bruises coming on her neck. A man appears, she discovers that Micah Nissley is a member of DCI. A cold case of her father's is starting again. Can Chief Fisher and Micah put an end to the Amish women being taken? Follow Diana and Micah on this wild roller coaster ride. I never saw the ending. This book will keep you guessing until the end. It is a must read for all romantic suspense fans.

Amish Country Killer ushers in the Rachel’s Crossing series in an intense, impressive manner! A serial killer, dormant for fifteen years, has reappeared targeting young Amish women in Rachel’s Crossing, Kentucky. Police Chief Diana Fisher and DCI agent Micah Nissley head up the search to apprehend the illusive villain which becomes very personal for both of them. The expertly plotted, fast-paced, action-packed, deeply emotional storyline roped me in immediately and didn’t let go until the last page was turned. Although one of my prime suspects turned out to be the killer, the story was so well-written that I was still beyond shocked when the reveal came! Well-crafted characters with relatable emotional struggles add depth believability to the story. The vividly described remote mountain setting, especially the coal mine tunnel maze inside Black Mountain, intensifies the suspense and danger. I value the gentle faith aspect that is incorporated seamlessly into the story. This compelling story, heavy on suspense and light on romance, is top notch inspirational romantic suspense, and I highly recommend it. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Should have stayed gone.

There is a light that outshines all the darkness in this world - but would it be able to find its way to Rachel’s Crossing in Kentucky? Diana Fisher is the new chief of police in this small town close to an Amish settlement and Black Mountain. Black Mountain used to be a mining area, but those tunnels had long been quiet until one day when something was found? Were these the bodies of those missing for over 15 years? A cold case as her first case in this new position, but no, more young Amish girls are missing. Will they survive to be found? Can the darkness of the past be conquered with God’s help? Plenty of action will keep you guessing right up to the totally unexpected ending. With the help of Casey, her deputy, Micah, on loan from DCI and other DCI agents will this mystery finally be solved and the killing stopped? An early copy of this incredible story was received through Love Inspired Suspense. These thoughts are my own and were in no way solicited.
