Apple AirTag (1 Pack) (2nd generation)

A: No. “The AirTag 2 does not work with the iPhone 12 mini. To use the AirTag 2, your iPhone must be running iOS 26 or later, which includes models like the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 15, iPhone 16, and iPhone 17. The iPhone 12 mini does not support the ultra-wideband chip required for the AirTag 2, which is necessary for the extended Precision Finding range.”

A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Apple AirTag (2nd generation). A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Apple AirTag (2nd generation). There is no fixed “distance to locate a person” with an AirTag (2nd generation)—because AirTags are not designed to locate people at all. However, if you’re asking about how far an AirTag’s location can be detected when it’s attached to something a person is carrying, here’s how it actually works, with real‑world distances. Important clarification first ⚠️ Apple explicitly states that AirTags are for tracking items, not people, and using them to track a person without consent is prohibited and may be illegal. So the distances below describe technical detection ranges, not a supported “person‑tracking” feature. How AirTag (2nd gen) location works (distance depends on mode) 1️⃣ Precision Finding (close range) This is when you are nearby with your own iPhone. Requires an iPhone with Ultra Wideband (UWB) Uses direction + distance arrows Effective range: up to ~60 meters (≈200 feet) in ideal conditions Accuracy: centimeter‑level once close This only works when you are physically near the AirTag, not from afar. 2️⃣ Bluetooth detection (short range, non‑UWB) When a nearby Apple device detects the AirTag via Bluetooth. Typical Bluetooth range: Indoors: 10–30 meters (30–100 ft) Outdoors/open space: up to ~100 meters (330 ft) This detection does not give live direction—just a location update when detected. A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Apple AirTag (2nd generation). Yes, you can attach an AirTag to a dog's collar, and many pet owners do use them that way. However, Apple says AirTag is designed for tracking items, not pets or people. A few important limitations: ✅ Can help you find a lost dog's last known location through Apple's Find My network. ✅ Works best in areas where there are lots of nearby Apple devices. ❌ It is not a real-time GPS tracker and does not have its own cellular connection. ❌ Location updates depend on nearby Apple devices detecting the AirTag. A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Apple AirTag (2nd generation). I'm sorry your speaker was stolen. No, an Apple AirTag does not come with adhesive and is not designed to stick directly to items. AirTags are small tracker discs that are typically placed in a holder, key ring, case, or adhesive mount sold separately. For a portable speaker, you have a few options: Adhesive AirTag mounts: These stick to the speaker using strong 3M-style adhesive. Protective cases with AirTag pockets: If your speaker has a carrying strap or handle, you can attach an AirTag holder. Hidden mounting: Some people place an AirTag inside a battery compartment or under a removable cover, if the speaker design allows it without affecting operation.
