One of Marvel's most enigmatic characters, the Inhuman king Black Bolt, gets his own series at least written by phenom Saladin Ahmed! Black Bolt has been jailed! But where? Why? And who could be powerful enough to hold the uncanny Inhuman monarch? The answers will shock you -- and Blackagar Boltagon as well! For if he is to learn the truth, he must first win a fight to the death against a fellow inmate: the Absorbing Man! As a prison revolt begins, Death's Head enters the fray -- but is he there to help or to hunt? And who -- or what -- is the warden of this strange place? Whatever it is, the Jailer knows only penance and fear. And soon, so will the Silent King! If he can gain his freedom, it will be with a heavy heart -- and a new companion. But the journey home is long and full of dangers, and what awaits Black Bolt at his destination is judgment! Will he survive the wrath of his own people? COLLECTING: Black Bolt (2017) 1-12About the Author
Saladin Ahmed is an acclaimed novelist and poet who is fast gaining a reputation as one of the comics industry's brightest talents. His 2012 book Throne of the Crescent Moon, the first volume in a trilogy, was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel and won the Locus Award for Best First Novel. The critical praise continued for his Marvel Comics debut on Black Bolt with artist Christian Ward, which won the 2018 Eisner Award for Best New Series. Ahmed followed that project with Exiles, then went on to chart the adventures of two of Marvel's brightest young heroes in Miles Morales: Spider-Man and Magnificent Ms. Marvel. Christian Ward is a London-based illustrator and writer whose comic book projects include Image Comics' best-sellers The Infinite Vacation with writer Nick Spencer and ODY-C with Matt Fraction. His unique artwork has graced Marvel titles including Ultimates2 and Thor, as well as his Eisner Award-winning collaboration with Saladin Ahmed on Black Bolt. Artist Frazer Irving rose to prominence with the 2000 A.D. series "Necronauts." In addition to work for RPG companies and advertising agencies, his comic-book credits include Klarion the Witch Boy for DC, and Iron Man: The Inevitable and Silent War for Marvel. The versatile artist has illustrated characters as diverse as Batman, Skeletor and Garfield. Stephanie Hans has provided covers for the relaunched Journey into Mystery and other Marvel titles. After illustrating Avengers Origins: Ant-Man & the Wasp, she moved from the Marvel Universe to Stephen King's Mid-World with Dark Tower: The Gunslinger -- The Way Station.Dimensions (Overall): 10.19 Inches (H) x 6.63 Inches (W)
