Snowman in a snow storm
Provided batteries leaked after a short time. Did not have the receipt nor box. B&D refused any kind of restitution. Consider this a one-and-done product. A throw-away after the initial use.

Do not buy
I think this thing has caused more damage than it’s job to find studs. 👎🏼 I have drilled more holes in to drywall then the studs it finds. I have spent more money on patch work than what this junk cost me. DO NOT BUY

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE
Absolute garbage. Doesn't find anything whatsoever. Experiencing the same as other reviewers. Finds nothing or the whole wall is a stud. If I knew where the 2x4 frame started or ended I'd just use a tape measure and measure every 16 inches.

Junk
Finding studs isn’t difficult unless you’re using this tool. As said by another reviewer the finder alternates from not finding any studs to classifying the entire wall as a stud. I looked up hoe to use properly, experimented several times and still very unreliable.

Ok product if used correctly.
I've used a couple of these B&D laser levels and they work fine if used the correct way. I'm a contractor and I see the stud finder often misused by professionals. The tool needs to be placed against the wall in a location where you KNOW there's no stud, THEN press and hold the button, once the stud finder is silent (some have an initial "tone" or beep to let you know it's on and sensing for studs) and the little light is on you can then slide it along the wall in your desired location. The tool CAN'T come off the wall. Once you break contact with the wall you HAVE TO let off the button and go back to step one in a location you know there's no stud. If you place it on a stud to start with and THEN press the button then the tool will read THAT as normal density and search for places MORE dense then your 2X4..........like maybe a brick fireplace for example. At any rate the model BDL190S is more accurate and easier to use. All, however will require that you depress the "start" button in a studless location. But the BDL190S sensor reads increasing density so you know when your getting close to the stud as well as easily find the center of it. The laser on the 190S is easier to use too.
