Works well for indicating where the screws are in a stud as it uses magnets. Would work really well to use the stud buddy in coordination with one of those electrical stud finders. Overall very helpful and useful tool to add to the tool box.

This is an amazing little tool! I was skeptical of this working but found it was very simple and accurate. It is magnetic and finds the screws located in studs. The magnet is strong and the tool will actually stay on the wall giving you a chance to make markings, etc. I’ve had other stud finders but this one blows them away because of ease of use. As noted on the packaging you can only use this for drywall, not plaster walls.

Stud Buddy makes stud finding easy! Just bought a house and this little guy got a workout helping us hang various things. Easy to use and the magnet technology with no need for batteries is a huge win. Definitely recommend Stud Buddy for your stud finding needs.

The StudBuddy was much lighter than I expected. We tested it on a few different walls and it worked incredibly well. It was nice to have it stay on the wall, hands free. The only reason I dropped a star is because it feels like it could scratch freshly painted walls.

This little tool is pretty cool. I didn't realize it was basically a magnet but it works great! I tested it throughout my house on different walls. I was actually able to put up two frames without attempting to make holes in the wrong places

Good tool to have! Good and handy tool to have that works well. Worth the price if you are moving into a new place, etc and have lots of hanging pictures and things to do. Probably would not buy it unless I planned to do a lot of projects.

Doesnt get much easier than this, no batteries to replace, no buttons to press, no fumbling with large digital stud finders. Works every time, all the time, no false alerts like a digital stud finder. Wherever there's a nail or screw this stud finder will loacte it.

This StudBuddy is pretty much a strong magnet that locates anything metal behind your walls so you can have an idea of where the wood stud is located, allowing you to nail into the stud. It helps with the guess work but it doesn't help me located the center of the stud, which would be helpful. The shape is ergonomically designed to make it easy to hold with your fingers. I don't like how the orange plastic is on the backside because it does scratch up my wall a bit when I'm running the StudBuddy along the wall trying to detect the stud. The detecting side should be all smooth to avoid scratches and scraping noise. Overall, ok and simple product but there are better stud finders out there that'll locate the center of the stud for you and tell you if there are electrical wires nearby.

The StudBuddy Stud Finder is a useful little tool. The magnet is so strong. It was able to detect the studs in the thicker sheet rock in my apartment that my battery stud finder has trouble locating. The strong magnet allows it to stay in place, making it easier to mark the stud location and for measuring. It's small so its easy to store.

This is a very basic tool. Just a really strong magnet but it appears to work well. It was easily able to find the studs in the wall. I just slid it across the wall until it stuck and when I let go it didn't fall off. Exactly where the stud was so I knew where to hang my picture

I was a little skeptical that it was really this simple to use, and even more after I first started to use it with no apparent magnetic effect, until suddenly the StudBuddy snagged a bit on something. Sure enough, it found the stud and hung there when I left go! Works as advertised.

Great tool & so easy to use. Just place it on the wall & move it in a zigzag pattern. The device will "stick" to the wall magnetically. So simple & easy to use. Seems very strong too as I've dropped it a few times & it hasn't broken.

It’s a very good tool. Works great. Simple to use and efficient. I’d recommend it to anyone who owns a house or does any type of building. A tool that makes stud finding easy and non damaging. Small and easy to carry.

This makes hanging things so much easier. Instead of my husband guessing where studs are in the wall and making a million holes, this tells him exactly where they are. Highly recommended signed a wife.

This is such a delightfully simple product - it's basically a super strong magnet with a nice handle fashioned to be used as a stud finder. And, it works! You just run it along the wall until it sticks and you know where a nail is, thus a stud must be too.

Pros: The magnet in this thing is very strong, so it will stay on the wall if you find a drywall screw for it to attach to. I tried a regular magnet on the wall the same way and it did not have anywhere near the same hold. Cons: only attaches to drywall screws - if you’re trying to find studs elsewhere/with other fasteners it might not work. The housing is just plastic, so after a little use/being tossed around in a work bag I worry it may scratch up the wall.

The stud buddy is a simple tool. It works by using magnets to find the nails or screws that are within a stud. This simplicity makes it easy to use. However that means you can't just find the stud, you have to find part of the stud that has something magnetic attached to it. This is not a quick and easy fix. That said since it is working with magnets and not just the guesswork of some sound waves like some more expensive units when it attaches to the wall you know for sure exactly where the stud is. And as long as your studs are 16 in apart like they should be finding one should help you find the rest even if you can't find the nails or screws in the others.

This is an amazing tool! I've used battery-powered stud finders before, but this one is much easier to use. It hangs on the stud, so you can easily mark the place without having to hold both it and a pencil. It's also precise, so there are no more flashing lights to try to center. It's quick and easy! My house has both drywall and plaster walls. It hung easily on the drywall. On plaster, it sometimes found the stud, but it gave only a gentle tug. The manufacturer doesn't recommend using StudBuddy on plaster, and I agree.

Thia definitely does what it advertises to do. It's so much easier to use than the battery operated one usually use. Looking forward to getting stuff hung up using this. The magnet seems to work really well.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the stud buddy! He remembers having a stud finder in the early 2000s that was very hrs to use or tell if you actually found a stud. Well this one has a very strong magnet and it was clear weather you found a stud or not. We are doing some major wall repair and painting this spring, and then I am hanging some larger art and family photos, and it is coming in handy.
