Q&A(8)

Q: Can you freeze food or liquid in these jars?

submitted by had2be - 6 years ago
  • A: Glass in the freezer is okay, it's the liquid expansion you need to worry about especially with the tight seal these provide. Removing the seal until the liquid is frozen then seal it up is safe. Glass breaks with sudden temperature changes, no hot liquid poured in extremely cold glass or vice versa. • A: We do not recommend the FIDO jar for freezer use. the FIDO Cylendar jars are designed for this application. Any glass jar with a shoulder (where ice can dam up in freezing) may lead to breakage.

Q: I have a couple of your jars that say "hand wash". Is that because of the gasket and/or the metal parts on the clamp jars?

submitted by Christina - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes, we recommend hand washing based on the gasket and wire clamp. The wire can be removed to allow the bail to be taken off and glass only washed in a dishwasher.

Q: Can these jars/lids be safely used to can jam/jelly?

submitted by Shopper1 - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi There! yes, this jar can be used for canning and preserving. Make sure you boil jar and lid only, without rubber gasket and metal clamp. For pasteurization the gasket has to be always new and must not come into contact with 100% fatty foods.
