Something changed for the worse.
We have been using the target brand bubbles for years. This bottle smelled totally different and had a very concerning strong chemical odour. It’s bad enough I threw it out and wouldn’t let my kid use it. Maybe it was my bottle, maybe they changed the formula. I won’t buy them again.

2026 consistency and smell are bad!
I’ve been buying 3-4 bottles every year for the last 5 years because we normally love this bubble solution. Normally consistency is thick and it’s really great quality and value. This year though the solution is thin and it smells awful. Kind of like gasoline. Do not recommend buying until they fix the batch issue. It’s awful

Beware of the yellow bottle! Stinks
I ordered the blue fragrance free bubbles and received a yellow version that was not fragrance free. I returned it only to be sent another yellow one. It’s smells absolutely disgusting and now I have no way of returning for a refund. I really just want the blue fragrance free version I ordered in the first place. It’s ridiculous to have received the same wrong item twice!

I can't believe this stuff has such good ratings! I was almost taken out by the smell immediately upon opening. Definitely not something I want to breathe in, and absolutely not safe for kids! I'm returning this asap! it doesn't even bubble up at all! it claims to be nontoxic but where is the ingredient list on the bottle???? WHAT IS IN THIS STUFF?? We must do better for our children!!

I bought these bubbles on repeat last year. Large blue bottle, no smell, thick solution, great bubbles! This year, we got an orange container. The solution was thin and it smells SO BAD!! Don't know what they did but I can't buy this for my kids anymore.

Strong Chemical Smell
I have purchased this product for years. However, I bought a new bottle yesterday and noticed a strong chemical smell. It was really bad that I did not use it. I compared the new bottle to the old one and saw two differences. The old bottle says fragrance free and origin is from China. The new bottle does not say fragrance free and the origin is from India. Whatever changed was done please bring back the original formula! It was way better before.

Smells so bad I thought we had a gas leak
My kids play with bubbles all the time, and can do so unsupervised. They get out their bubble tray and wands and pour out the bubble liquid and clean up after themselves afterwards. So when I gave them this refill bottle, I didn't stick around to supervise and took the opportunity to catch up on some laundry. Ten-ish minutes later, I smelled something that made me very concerned. I can't even describe it; I thought we might have a gas leak, or an electrical fire, or a tipped over bottle of drain cleaner. Something immediately dangerous and unsafe. It smelled like an emergency. I ran around my house looking for the source of the smell, and for my children, and found them scattered to the edges of the house. They all said they didn't know what the smell was, but that they didn't like the new bubble liquid. I went to investigate, and they hadn't cleaned up like usual, it looked like they'd scattered from a disaster. The smell was so strong, I couldn't believe it was the bubble liquid. I kept sniffing the bottle over and over to reassure myself that I didn't actually have a hazardous chemical spill somewhere else in my house. I helped all my kids take baths and wash their hair, and I opened windows, turned on fans, and got the air filter out of storage. Anything I could think of to get the smell out of my house. Then I sat down and googled "store bought bubble solution smells bad," and this product review section came up, for this exact product that I'd purchased. Which reassured me that it really was the bubble solution, but really alarmed me that other reviewers were using words like "formaldehyde" and "gasoline." And that everyone else seemed to have caught the problem relatively quickly, while I hadn't, and so it'd been open and off gassing from the bubble tray for almost half an hour before I realized. I thought we were all pretty much okay except for the smell being all over my house, but I woke up the next day and was so nauseous and dizzy that I ended up having to call into work. There's no evidence I can cite that it was the bubble liquid, but I feel like it's important to mention, given the timing. I think we might actually need a recall on this product. Sometimes kids products like slime or foam have a bad smell, and that's fine. But this is so far beyond that. If a friend warned me that this bubble solution smelled bad, I would never, ever imagine it would be this bad.
