Cold Steel Recon Series 4.0-Inch Clip Point Blade Folding Knife with Tri-Ad Lock

The blade and the tri-ad lock are good. But once I opened the knife, I was unable to close it. The button at the back of the knife handle which unlocks the tri-ad lock is very hard, I hurt my thumb trying to depress it. A youtube video showed somebody doing open heart surgery on this knife, trying to loosen up the unlocking mechanism. I did not want to take the knife apart. I returned it. My AD-15 with the scorpion lock works great. Coldsteel did not do a proper quality control.

@gideontactical on YouTube highly recommends this knife. I bought it and I must say it is everything you need in a carry knife. Hunting, fishing, camping, box cutter, tape annihilator, and self defense if need be. Well rounded, versatile and it carries smaller than it is. Cold Steel fan for life.

I was looking for a bigger knife and got this one. Looks good and feels good in the hand. I would recommend if you're looking for a big knife. Lockback is solid.

Dangerously sharp, and the edge is holding nicely through all of the bailing twine I'm cutting. So far this is the best knife I've owned. It will be interesting to see how the edge holds up over time. My mini Recon, with the Aus 8 steel, requires honing every couple of weeks to stay keen. So far, I've not had to hone the S35VN Recon, but I've only had the knife a couple of weeks.

The best knife I have ever bought. I carry it with me at all times. Definitely worth the money.

Great knife. Light enough to be an edc, but still very solid and sturdy. The lock is very secure, im never worried about it closing on me.

Epic Knife, great allrounder. No need for another knife if you own this one. It does every job and it looks so cool. Feels very good and safe in my hand, Very sharp, very robust. I don´t think it is possible to break it at all.

I like how it feels in my hand. And it fits well in my pocket and not interfere with my phone, keys, etc.

I love to carry this knife, and I do every day. It is super-thin and very easy to clip into and remove from my back pocket, still leaving room for a wallet or items. It is tougher than nails and can be used for any job, but is also a good contender for self-defense. This knife deploys fast and snaps open with ease. The indented design the handle allows for a very strong grip, allowing my to use it hard without concern about my hand slipping down to the blade. The blade is very sharp and holds it edge nicely. I keep Recons and Voyager knives in a rotation for daily carry so i can send my knives periodically to Cold Steel for resharpening.I love both models. The recon is much easier to carry, being thinner and lighter, but I love them both.

I have the 4inch knife as a daily carry. Strong, sharpe blade, easy to sharpen, nice fit for my hand, etc. field dressed a couple deer with it as well…just cause I could. Money well spent.

I have owned the Recon 1 in just about every form and blade shape offered since its release. I find this model though not politically correct possibly seen as overly aggressive in styling. I believe Cold Steel’s Recon 1 is the best overall blade anyone can carry. It is heavy duty in build but light enough in weight to be carried daily and will do anything you require of it within reason. If I could have and use only one knife the Recon1 would be my choice.
