A: Previous answer is silly. At 5'7, your arms extend above your head 12-18"—if straining to reach, 'tippytoes' likely adds about 3": so, fingers r in the neighborhood of 9.5 ft.

Q: Is this step stool easy to open and close? I have arthritis in one of my hands which makes it difficult to open and close things at time.

A: This is a good question. The step stool has an easy release lock, so opening and closing should be rather easy and secure, especially once it's been opened and closed a few times to get the mechanisms broken in a bit. To open or close, you hold the frame with one hand and and pull up or push down with your other hand on the indicated area of the top step. Another consideration would be the weight. Because this unit has a steel frame, it weights just under 14 pounds. We do make an aluminum version that might be easier to maneuver.

A: The tray is integrated with the opening/closing of the ladder, and the tray could not be left folded while the ladder was in use.

I’m 5’4 and this ladder gets me right under my 9 ft ceiling when I reach… I was hoping for maybe an extra 6 inches so that I don’t run the risk of losing my balance but there are other ladders on the market. This ladder does slide quite a bit so please take your time and don’t push the rubber tips all the way against the wall.
