Q: What is the depth of the whole thing (description shows both 17" and 14.17") and inside the shelves?

  • A: The 14.1" is the correct one! The top is that depth, and then inside the shelves it's more like 12.5" since the top has a slight overhang. It's a nice piece of furniture!

  • A: The shelves to this unit are adjustable and it is recommended to use the unit with them as they were designed to help with the stability of the unit. Cam-locks are not used to assemble this unit.

Eh, keep looking.

I ordered this for our entry way for storage of shoes. While I love the finish and that most of this is constructed out of actual wood, the finish is very flaky and one end arrived with a ton of scratches on it from transit - some of the finish actually flaked off on my rug when assembling it. It's also not the sturdiest feeling, especially for a bench. I will be returning this and will keep looking.

Perfect shoe rack, very classy

This unit was pretty easy to put together but time consuming. The unit itself is really a lovely unit with ample room for most shoes, however my husband wears a 13 and the shoes barely fit. Higher top athletic shoes will not fit as the space between the shelves is narrow. But overall it is elegant, good quality and does the job really nicely.

Question about shelves.

The question was asked about the shelves. Yes they are adjustable. No you don't have to put in either shelf in and it is still very sturdy. Yes it is a lighter color than shown, a little reddish.

Bench

I really liked this bench, however it was difficult to assemble. I know that the instructions stated that help was required, but I didn't have anyone to help. Could not get backboard to stay in those skinny slots, so left it off, I am hoping it will be okay without it. It is a quality bench, if you have a handyman available.

Perfect

Easy to build if you can read instructions and not rush, this coming from a 26yo/F. My feet hang if I sit all the way back since I'm 5'2. No problem as I only need to sit on the edge and put on my shoes. Also it's a bit lighter than in the photos.
