TLDR; I would not recommend and I won't be buying furniture from target in future. So much of what they carry looks pretty, but functionally you'd get more bang for your buck by hot-glueing fabric onto a cardboard box. The fabric and cushion are fine. The top is very cheap foam. I bought it 4 days ago and there are already visible dents from my legs and feet. (For reference I weigh just over 100lbs and I am not rough with my furniture, so this is 100% a quality issue) The fabric is the same misc faux suede/velvet you see everywhere right now. I mostly expected that so I'm not even mad; $50 isn't nothing, but it is the cheap end for furniture. My big complaint is that the ottoman is extremely flimsy. I tried adjusting the inner platform thing, checked to be sure the walls were folded out correctly, and that the lid was centered properly. I tried setting it on hardwood, then carpet. I tried filling the storage area because I know my small ones are more stable when full. Nothing works.

Don't waste your money
I have owned it for a few weeks now and despite it being pretty it’s not functional for the intended purpose (storage and possible seating) especially at the same time. I purchased it to store blankets and as an extra footstool. I have to constantly adjust the blankets inside so that the top rim stays close enough for the lip to catch for the lid or top. If I never used it for storage it might work, but even that’s doubtful- the construction is weak (you get what you pay for, but even the amount that’s being charged for this is too much). It’s pretty if you stick it in a corner and never use it. I’ll be getting rid of it for something more structured.

you can't fill this ottoman up ot the sides bow out and the lid falls in. and even if you only fill it partially you then can't sit on it because the lid falls in.

Not sure what all the reviews are about the lid being difficult or it being flimsy - I stood on top of it yesterday with zero issues trying to get something off of a tall shelf in my room and I weigh 200lbs. YMMV, I guess.

Storage, yes! Sitting, no..
As a bench to put weight on, don’t get it. BUT if you’re looking for something stylish just to store things in, absolutely yes. I bought it for storing my dog’s insane amount of toys. And the lid can pop on whenever I want to hide them like when company comes over. Looks nice in my space.

Sides arent rigid and not stable for frequent use
Very pretty and spacious. However it has no stability in the side walls at all and the lid will drop into the interior with the slightest movement. If you plan on using this as a footstool or something that you use often, I would not recommend this.

Good bench for price
I was initially hesitant to buy this based off the review. This was a very easy assembly and after putting it together I sat and fell off it. After taking a step back, you need to very carefully tuck and place the lid so it aligns. Once it is aligned correctly it's solid.

Don't buy this If you intend to use it as an ottoman.
This thing is awful if you are actually trying to use it for an ottoman/Bench. The side walls are so flimsy that the lid keeps falling into the ottoman. I bought this after have a few cheap ($15-$20) storage ottomans from Ollie's that would wear out after about 6 or 7 months of use. I haven't had this ottoman for more than 2 months and it's already worse that either of the cheaper one I bought from the Discount store. I could have almost bought 3 of the cheaper ottomans for the $50 this one costs. I have been going through a series of knee surgeries so it's important I have something I can elevate my legs with and I assumed that spending a little more this time would heed better results. well I was wrong.

The reviews were right, lol. So mid. I wouldn’t sit on it. Target is thinking pretty highly of themselves for charging that much money for this thing I’ll keep some blankets it that is just ok quality and smells like chemicals, but I guess it is what it is. Really funny that it requires assembly too LOL.

Really nice quality but you cannot sit on it!
The quality is really nice and you literally just pop it out to assemble which was appreciated. It didn't work for my space but I would definitely recommend. Please be aware though you cannot sit on this! It just makes for nice looking storage.
