A: Duraflame firestart firelighters are made of recycled wood and agricultural fibers mixed with blends of wax and other combustible, renewable materials. It is ok to use firestart firestarters to start your wood fire in a wood stove.

A: Hello, the size of each individual firestarter is 4.5" W x 1.25" D x 1.875". The 12.94 and 6 refer to the size of the actual case itself.

A: It is safe to cook over firewood that was started with any Duraflame firelighter product, such as this firestarter. Do no begin cooking until the firestarter has completely burned away.

Inferior quality to previous style.
I echo what many others have said. the paper on the previous style was better and the blocks lit... whatever you changed, change it back. I've made my peace with these....but they are not as good as the 6 ounce block style was.

Horrible product
The paper burns and then I'm left with an unlit brick. I need to hold a lighter to it for several minutes before it lights. What did you change, other than the smaller size? Won't buy this ever again.

Waste of Money - Don't Buy
The starter-thingies are hard to light, difficult to keep lit, and don't help ignite the firewood. And I'm saying this after maybe a dozen attempts at different times.

Good fire starters
I have never used fire starters before, All my past experience is with crumpled newspaper. These little Oil & wax impregnated compressed sawdust bricks seem to light easily and burn with a hot steady flame.

What changed? Doesn't light.
I have used this product in the past with great success. The last box I bought is nearly impossible to light. I have tried loosening the paper as suggest in another review but no luck. I even tried crumpled paper around and under. The paper all burned leaving a bare block of starter. What changed? Did I get a bad batch? Fire starters shouldn't be difficult to light. I'm certainly not going to buy another box of these just to see if they are any better.

Smokes Up House, do not purchase
One starter log with wood will smoke a 2,500 sq. ft. house up to the point alarms are going off. Our chimney is clean and we have never had this problem with other starters. After about 10 minutes the smokes dies down and log begins to burn and ventilate correctly. Now my entire house smells like burned paper . Never again.
