My friends love this game when we want to play something that is fun and silly but we dont want to have to think too hard

There are some hashes that are considered classics, Uno is one such game, but 9 Lives from the makers of Exploding Kittens could be the game to knock it off its perch!The aim of the game is simple, have the most cards at the end of the game, and you gain cards by making your competitors go bust.So, there is a bit of math in the game...but as long as you can add up to nine it shouldn’t be too difficult!On your turn you’ll discard a card from your hand and add it to the current score, if you play a card that forces the count above 9, then you out and you give your cards to the player that made you bust.Each card has a different # of points, and some have actions, so busting over 9 is not always as straightforward as you would think and that’s where the fun increases.We played the game multiple times over the week and each time we found new tactics to win the game. The game supports 2-6 players, and while it works with two, we found it more enjoyable with more.Of you want a game like Uno, but with a tactical twist, then 9 Lives could be the game you are looking for. We can see this becoming a staple of or game nights.

A fun card counting game like UNO, but the goal is to have the most cards wins. If you like card math of blackjack and the strategy and betrayal of UNO this is a game you should get!

This is a very simple and fast game from Exploding Kittens. It is a trick taking game where you want to take the most cards. It has some Uno-like actions which can mix-up the game play. And cause some Gotcha moments. Gameplay is fast and games are relatively quick. It does require some very simple math, so is pretty accessible for most players except maybe the youngest of players. I only have a couple of minor gripes. One is that unlike most Exploding Kittens games, there is not charming art. The box and card backs have a nice holographic effect, even the rules are shiny, but the cards faces are rather plain. With the clear nod to cats, I was surprised there was no reference to them in the game itself. Not a big deal, but just something a little out of the ordinary for an EK game. Otherwise, the quality of the cards and box are great. The other minor gripe is that I was surprised there wasn’t any penalty for incorrect math. One could home rule it that you bust if your math is wrong.Bottom line is that it is a fast and simple game that is a great warm up for game night.

Solid addition to any game library, and plays especially well with new gamers or children building their fast math thinking. The strategy and flow become immediately clear after a few turns, but quickly moves from assessing the cards in your hand and on the table to trying to plan around the cards you think everyone else is most likely to have. Really appreciated that this wasn't yet-another-card-shedder, but the the positive points tracking was straightforward and felt like it fit the gameplay cleanly. Another solid entry into almost any game night!

Game is very well designed and simple to learn and master. Great for anyone that likes quick and simple games! Read the description and if you think you'd like it I'm sure you would!

This game is awesome! I’ve already played it with multiple different groups of people and it works for all ages. Favorite things about the game: it’s playable with kids, VERY easy to learn/teach, each game is quick, and it’s really fun. Highly recommend the game!

We played several rounds of Nine Lives with three players and had a good time with it. The video instructions were especially helpful for getting started, and the card reference for the special action cards is something we kept coming back to during play.The game is challenging without being frustrating, although we occasionally tripped ourselves up over the difference between “New total is zero” and “+0” when calling out numbers. That actually became part of the fun, but it definitely helps to have at least one person keeping an eye on the math.Overall, it’s clever, quick to learn once you see it in action, and has enough twists to keep multiple rounds interesting. 4/5 stars.

This is a very fun and easy to learn game. Some of the group was nervous about having to add quickly, but after a few turns everyone realized it wasn’t difficult in the least. The turns are pretty quick, and leads to a lot of laughs. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a simple game to play to start off game night, or just to have when you want to play an easy game that doesn’t take a lot of time or effort.

This game is great, been playing with my 6 year old every night since we got it. Fast passes, easy to learn , lots of fun!

I love the fact that this game is so easy practically anyone can play! It even serves as an education game for young players. Once you get the hang of the modifier cards it's straight forward and a quick game. Great for parties of all ages, so long as you can count to nine! The only downside is that there's no art by Matthew Inman, which takes the score down a smidge but still 5 stars!

I love your games since most of them are super quick. We had a blast from my 82 year old dad to my 5 year old. I know it said 8+ but he was doing great.

Quick and easy game. If you're looking for something that anyone in a group can learn quickly this is your game. It's fun, fast, and works well at parties, and with that friend you have who never listens to directions.

Quick play, easy to understand.. Competitive game, but no hard feelings. This is a good game to bring on trips

Another great game from the exploding kittens company that take less than 5 minutes to learn and is endlessly fun. Great to play with the family or with friends with some drinks. Compact box make it really easy to take anywhere also!

We sat down for a quick run through of the game and an hour and a half later we realized we were five plays in. A really terrifically simple game that’s infinitely replayable and filled with strategy. The included instructions are epically terrible though. You have to watch the video to understand gameplay at all.

This is a great quick and easy to setup and explain game. The mechanics are so much fun. We were able to play multiple games at once and there wasn’t fatigue. Another amazing hit from exploding kittens team.

I will say first off the game is a little confusing at first. Trying to remember who gets what cards and how many from who or where when someone "busts". But after a few rounds playing slowly at first we got the hang of the game. Then it became a very quick to play. The special action cards keep the game fun. I would adding this game to your library of party games. Games like these are great at parties because your guests are able to play many different games with other people in a matter of a couple hours.

This game plays like an uno variant, it's simple to learn and easy to play. But it's only interesting for a few rounds and gets old quickly
