Classic FF
Beautiful and fun return to the Final Fantasy classic formula of heroes and magic crystals saving the world from an evil force that seeks to destroy it. This is the mobile game Brave Exvius reworked for a more traditional single player JRPG experience, similar to Octopath 0. It’s turn-based, and you can equip Visions to vary up your party’s skills. These Visions are mostly past Final Fantasy protagonists like Cloud and Terra. They don’t take part in the story, it’s just a cool way to bring in the series’ past. I’ve finished up chapter 1 to this point and it’s not terribly hard on normal difficulty but I did struggle with a challenge enemy that you have access to near the end of chapter one. I was one level below recommended and came close to a party wipe, so I’m expecting there will be more optional content that is similarly challenging. There is also an Expert difficulty level if normal is too easy, and Casual if it’s too hard (you can change at any time). And there is auto save (you can turn this off). There’s voice acting for story lines, though there are quests and NPCs that aren’t voiced. The HD-2D style here is pretty but not quite to the same level as Octopath. I’d recommend this if you want a solid classic turn-based JRPG with some modern comforts.
