  • A: This is the smaller version, a typical hand-sized board book -- the only way I've been able to tell is that the large one has 14 pages and this one has 26.

100 First Words: Great Photos, Dated Content

Book delivers sturdy board-book pages and clear real-life photos that help toddlers link words to everyday objects, but it’s starting to show its age: gadgets like rotary telephones and cassette players will leave modern kids scratching their heads, and pairing words like cat/kitten or duck/duckling feels redundant. Its compact size makes it great for travel, yet the small images aren’t ideal for daily shared reading at home. With updated vocabulary and slightly larger (not sure maybe it is available in larger book version), more varied photos, this little book could feel fresh again.

Engaging Picture Book

I use this book with my preschool students to work on language skills and vocabulary. The vibrant colors and appealing pictures does help with getting students to use verbal communication. There is like at least one page that almost every child really love in this book too!

Helping Tiny Talkers

We have "First Bible Words" "First Christmas Words" and now this one. Love them all. You definitely have to engage if your child is on the younger side, lots of twittering and pointing at the visuals will get your kid saying these words in no time and recognizing the items in public as well.
