About this item
A clever picture book with a humorous twist ending focuses on the first-day-of-school nervousness of one Sarah Jane Hartwell. Throughout the morning, Sarah Jane is hidden from view as she hides in her bed, refusing to go to school. Her father tries all sorts of tactics to get her up, from suggesting that everyone will be confused at her absence to pointing out how silly she's being. He finally gets her to school, but the reader still can't see her. Who could she possibly be? With ink and watercolor artwork reminiscent of David Small's illustration style.
Sarah is afraid to start at a new school, but both she and the reader are in for a surprise when she gets to her class. Simultaneous.
