Q: Can it be used on Tesla (EV) tires?

  • A: If your tire is a quiet tire or a run flat, we do not recommend installing Fix-a-Flat into quiet tires. The tread area of a quiet tire is coated with a layer of foam. If the sealant is installed, it will be instantly absorbed into the foam, rendering it unable to reach and treat the puncture. The sealant will also likely result in tire vibrations. Additionally, there is no way to remove the sealant from the foam and the tire will likely need to be replaced. Run flat tires are not designed for tire sealant as the run flat tire structure was specifically created to indicate a flat and still be safe to drive on for a short period of time. Additionally, some run flat tires have a foam insert to help support the run flat concept. If the tire does have the foam insert, sealant will be absorbed in the foam and will not reach the puncture hole. If they are regular tires, you can use Fix A Flat in them for emergency repair only. You should always have the tire cleaned out by a tire professional within 3 days or 100 miles.

Q: Can it be left in the car when temperatures drop to freezing or below

  • A: Yes. If the temperature falls below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, Fix-a-Flat will freeze. The product in the can is not damaged and may be used after thawing (we recommend warming the can using your vehicle’s interior heater vent). If the product is in the tire, and freezing weather is predicted, then immediately take the vehicle to a qualified tire professional for repair.

  • A: Hello, Fix-A-Flat is meant as an emergency repair only. It must be cleaned out within 3 days or 100 miles whichever comes first. So if you are using it to get to the tire shop so it can be fixed, that would work, but we do not suggest long term usage.

  • A: We do not recommend installing Fix-a-Flat into run flat tires. Run flat tires are not designed for tire sealant as the run flat tire structure was specifically created to indicate a flat and still be safe to drive on for a short period of time. Additionally, some run flat tires have a foam insert to help support the run flat concept. If the tire does have the foam insert, sealant will be absorbed in the foam and will not reach the puncture hole.

  • A: The best place to store a Fix-a-Flat can is in the spare tire well or trunk. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND STORING FIX-A-FLAT IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE (INCLUDING GLOVE BOXES OR HATCHBACKS). It is not recommended to store Fix-a-Flat in temperatures over 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • A: Fix-a-Flat is for emergency flat tire repair in a highway vehicle only. But Slime sealant is a great fit for your baby stroller. It will prevent and repair flats for 2 years! If your stroller tires have tubes, grab the Slime red label bottle for tubes (#10003), If your stroller has tubeless tires, grab the Slime blue label bottle (#10007).

    Great for peace of mind

    Handy to have, but there is a learning curve

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I initially ordered the Fix-a-Flat to keep in my car and hopefully never have to use it. Unfortunately, living in New England, our roads are horrendous, and my sedan’s low-profile seem to constantly run into potholes and end up needing air. When one of my tires started showing low pressure, this would be the perfect solution since I did not want to drive miles to a gas station with an almost-flat tire. Unfortunately, my first experience did not go as planned. Size & portability: the 16 oz can is compact enough to keep in the trunk without taking up too much space. It is convenient to have an emergency tire repair product on hand, especially when you are away from home. Design & capacity: the can seems straightforward, and the size is practical for a sedan or coupe tire. However, connecting the hose and using the can requires more care than I expected. Make sure you understand the instructions and maybe watch a YouTube video before getting started. Performance: this is where my experience fell short. I read the directions on the back and thought I followed them correctly, but when I started tightening the hose onto my already deflated tire, air began hissing out. I panicked and pressed the can trigger too early, and the white sealant sprayed and leaked everywhere instead of inflating my tire. Thankfully, the mess cleaned up fairly easily from my driveway and wheel without any lasting issues. I suspect there is a learning curve to using this product, and patience is key. Make sure everything is properly connected before pressing the trigger. I can’t fairly fudge how well it seals a puncture because I never got to that point. For now, I carry a portable air compressor in my car and use it to top off my tires when needed. I could see Fix-a-Flat being useful if a compressor can’t solve the problem, provided the puncture is the type the sealant can actually repair. Would I buy it again? I’m undecided. The compact size and portability are definitely advantages, but my first attempt was messy and unsuccessful. It might be useful emergency backup, but I’d recommend familiarizing yourself with how it works before you are stuck on the side of the road.

    East to use and efficient

Easy to use, just connect the little tube to the air valve of the tire. It foams up and ready to go in no time. Disadvantage is that once used, the tire can’t be fixed in a traditional way. However comes in handy since many cars don’t have a spare tire now.
