This tool went through the well worked soil around the mailbox like butter. However, I had to break up the denser root bound, clay soil near a magnolia tree with a pick axe before being able to dig individual holes for my bulbs. It was still less mess and less work then having to dig a trench with a shovel. I planted over 70 bulbs in just over an hour. I cleaned it up and it looks like new.

Tried it once and will return it. Just isn't sharp enough? Or maybe it takes more strength than I have but I couldn't get it more than an inch into the soil. Went back to using my hori hori knife--not as pretty but works well!

I use the tool for planting bulbs but also digging to place fertilizing sticks in the ground. This tool is made to last.
