Herbal Essences Curl Boosting Hair Mousse - 6.8oz

This product doesn't work. I thought it was just me since I've used herbal essences mousse for many many years but after repeateldy seeing my hair limp and noticing that the mousse is flat, not fluffy like it used to be, I decided to look online if anything has changed... and indeed I see that it has... for the worse :( :( If anyone has any suggestions on another product that works better/like the old totally twisted used to, I would Love to find it. This mousse doesn't work

This is my go to mousse! For reference I have 2b/c curls, thick, full, medium porosity hair. I the shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie under it and this combo works great for my hair. After defusing I’m left with nice bouncy curls. If I want more definition I’ll layer in some gel before applying the mousse. Forms a nice cast that is easy to scrunch out and really holds! Easily refreshes with a mist of the water bottle and I can easily get through 4 days without having to re-wash. Doesn’t feel heavy at all, no problems with build up. I have a really hard time finding products my hair likes and that holds my curls. This one is a keeper!

I know a ton of reviewers are complaining about the new formula but I love this mousse and I have no problems with the new formula. I’ve tried a LOT of products over the years and this is my favorite. I use it to refresh my curls for up to five days after wash day and I apply it to my hair dry each day after wash day. I swear my curls get curlier and more defined each day after wash day.

Great hold and lovely scent but verrrry drying. Need to also use a lot of product to get the hold you’re looking for. I used this for my curly hair 3 times. If you have dry hair I would not recommend at all.

Nothing like original Totally Twisted that I’ve used for years. I’m extremely disappointed. I could cry. I thought this was just different packaging. Totally Twisted is fluffy, soft and great smelling. My now white/grey wavy hair loves it and I get great results. This new version falls apart and liquifies. It doesn’t feel like mousse at all. Bring Totally Twisted back!!!

I am highly disappointed The only one moose that worked in my hair was the totally twisted. I will never buy another product from them ever again unless they come out with a product that is just like totally twisted. I have been using totally twisted for I don't know how many years forever and they changed it and there is nothing on the shelf that is like it. Should never mess with something that isn't broke.

Please bring your totally twisted line back. This new stuff is horrible and does not do the job. Please listen and return to what worked so well for so many years!

I wanted to like this for my hair, but it was an IMMEDIATE NO for me. As soon as I dispensed the mousse (after shaking it like a mad woman) it completely disintegrated before I could apply it to my hair! It also dried my hair out and I have HEALTHY, med porosity, medium type 2c hair. I only bought this bc NYM Curl Talk Curl Activating mousse was out of stock. Wonder why???

I cannot believe the replies I'm seeing from Herbal Essences! Telling people the mousse isn't working because they don't condition their hair enough or they're not shaking the bottle enough or dispensing the product correctly...it's MOUSSE. Curly hair girls have been using Herbal Essences mousse like Totally Twisted among others for YEARS. No, we condition our hair just fine, it's YOUR new formula drying out our hair. Also...it's not that hard to dispense mousse. I've used Totally Twisted for many years with zero problems. I'm still using it because I was able to snag as many cans as I could after this new TERRIBLE formula was released. Please do not insult your customers. Instead, LISTEN to us! We're telling you that the new formula is NOT WORKING. Totally Twisted was perfect. I know so many people who used it and loved it. I have no idea why the formula was changed other than the fearmongering about the preservative DMDM hydantoin. I understand this has now been removed from Herbal Essences products but whatever you have replaced it with among the other ingredients does NOT work. Please figure out a way to make Totally Twisted again or you will lose all of your curly girl customers. Once my current stock of Totally Twisted is gone I will 100% be looking for a new mousse if this is not fixed.

I really liked it and it held really well and gave me good defenition but it left a lot of product (white flakes) the next day and I had to wash my hair again to get it out. I’m a 2c/3a.

So disappointed. This is exactly as everyone describes and I loved the old formula. Why change a good thing? Idk what tonuse on my hair now but it def isn't this new stuff.

This formula IS NOT THE SAME! It is terrible! The foam melts in my hand before I can even put it on my hair!! It is an awful syrup texture and does not define or stye my curls like the totally twisted. The tips from Herbal Essence on how to "properly" use this crappy product on curly hair to other FORMER customers cracks me up! WE HAVE HAD CURLY HAIR ALL OUR LIVES AND KNOW HOW TO STYLE IT. Curly girls & guys have used hundreds of styling products to get it right & this is NOT IT!! Please stop insulting us and insinuating we don't know how to use this awful mess of a product that used to be perfectly fine. Change it back or your former customers will not return. It is truly awful and I do not recommend it to anyone. I have also stopped using the shampoo and conditioner as that has changed as well GOODBYE HERBAL ESSENCE! Please let us know when you go back to the original product that doesn't melt in my hand!

Like many others that have commented, I used totally twisted for nearly 20 years, no other mousse would do, it was perfection. This new formula is TERRIBLE! I can't even get it from my hands to my hair before it's completely dissolved in my hands, leaves my hair very frizzy. I switched to tresemme flawless curls, it's not as good as totally twisted was, but it's infinitely better than this laughably bad "new formula"

I have mostly straight, thick but fine hair. This works great to give me some volume and helps control the frizz. It also smells amazing!!! I do not think this would work well for curly hair though, it’s pretty light weight.

I've been using the Totally Twisted mousse for close to 20 years, it was perfect!! The new formula is NOT the same, it's awful. I will no longer purchase or recommend this product. VERY disappointed!!!

I was looking forward to trying this product however I couldn’t even get to that point. Not sure what’s wrong with the dispenser but when depressing it, nothing comes out & there is a gurgling sound. I only use mousse & never had this happen before with other brands. Glad Target has a good return policy.

Bring back Totally Twisted! This new version is absolutely the worst. Searching for a replacement!

Good product, but the cap was broken.
