Q: Is this a clacky keyboard
submitted by About the sound - 7 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about HyperX Alloy Origins 65 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for PC: RGB Lighting, USB-A Connection.
Whether the HyperX Alloy Origins 65 is "clacky" depends almost entirely on which switch type you choose. HyperX uses its own custom mechanical switches, and they have very different sound profiles.
Why it sounds the way it does
Even with the quieter Red switches, the Alloy Origins 65 has a specific build that influences the sound:
Aircraft-grade Aluminum Body: Unlike plastic keyboards that can sound hollow or "rattly," the full aluminum body makes the sound very solid and crisp.
Double-Shot PBT Keycaps: These are thicker and denser than standard plastic caps. This usually results in a deeper, higher-quality "clack" rather than a thin, cheap "clack."
The "Bottom Out" Sound: Because it is a mechanical keyboard, if you type with a heavy hand and hit the metal plate (bottoming out), you will definitely hear a distinct metallic "clack."
The Verdict
If you want that signature mechanical clack, go for the Blue (Clicky) switches. If you want a keyboard that is fast for gaming but won't annoy people in the next room, the Red (Linear) switches are the way to go—they are "thumpy" rather than "clacky."
Note: The Alloy Origins 65 uses a USB-C to USB-A cable. The "USB-A" in the title refers to the end you plug into your PC, while the keyboard side uses a modern, detachable USB-C port.

Q: If I tried changing the switches and broke the keyboard and it's already too late would that be bad
submitted by Yes - 7 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about HyperX Alloy Origins 65 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for PC: RGB Lighting, USB-A Connection.
Ouch. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you tried to pull the switches out of a standard HyperX Alloy Origins 65 and things started breaking, we have a bit of a situation.
The Problem: It’s not "Hot-Swappable"
Unlike some modern gaming keyboards where you can just pop the switches out like Lego pieces, the Alloy Origins 65 has soldered switches.
Soldered means the switches are essentially "glued" to the internal circuit board with melted metal (solder).
The Damage: If you tried to pull them out with a tool without desoldering them first, you likely ripped the metal "pads" or "traces" off the circuit board (the PCB).
Is it "Bad"?
In short: Yes, it’s pretty bad.
Physical Damage: If the metal circuits on the board are torn, the keyboard won't register keypresses anymore.
Warranty: This would be considered "user-induced damage." Since you disassembled or modified the hardware in a way it wasn't designed for, HyperX will not cover this under warranty.
Repairability: Repairing a torn PCB is a very delicate job that requires professional soldering skills. For a keyboard at this price point, the cost of a professional repair usually exceeds the cost of just buying a new one.

Q: Is this mechanical keyboard a mechanical keyboard
submitted by Yes - 8 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about HyperX Alloy Origins 65 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for PC: RGB Lighting, USB-A Connection
Yes, the HyperX Alloy Origins 65 is a true mechanical keyboard. Unlike "membrane" or "mechanical-feel" keyboards that use rubber domes, this board uses individual physical switches under every single key.
If you have any additional questions, we welcome you to contact MyTGTtech at 833-848-8324 every day, between 7am-11pm CST.

Q: Can this work with an ipad 10? Does it cone with the usb a cable to plug into the ipad 10 or do i need a usb c to usb adapter?
submitted by Mo - 8 months ago
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about HyperX Alloy Origins 65 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for PC: RGB Lighting, USB-A Connection
Yes, the HyperX Alloy Origins 65 is compatible with the iPad 10, but you will need an extra piece of hardware to connect them. The keyboard comes with a detachable USB-C to USB-A cable. The USB-C end plugs into the keyboard. The USB-A (the large, rectangular plug) end is meant for a PC or a laptop.
Since the iPad 10 has a USB-C port, you have two options to make this work:
⦁ The Adapter Method (Easiest): You can use a USB-C to USB Adapter. You plug the keyboard's included cable into the adapter, and the adapter into the iPad.
⦁ The Direct Cable Method: You can buy a separate USB-C to USB-C cable. Since the cable on this keyboard is detachable, you can replace the included one entirely. Just make sure the new cable has a slim head, as the port on the keyboard is slightly recessed.

best keyboard
its more of a personal preference but i really like this keyboard. i really like how the clicks dont sound too loud, it feels durable, and its worth the money. i dont like the fact that im unable to see the higher commands because they are on the side of the keys and the keyboard is small. i got it on sale for 79.99. it was a steal

Great starter board.
I love this keyboard! I’m starting my mechanical keyboard journey and while this board isn’t hot swap, it is pretty dang good. Especially for the price. Feels super heavy and solid. Love the sound and the switches are smooth!

Best 65 keyboard
Love the feel for the keys, love how compact it is. It’s overall the perfect keyboard for my set up. You can’t argue with targets price when other retailers charge over 100+

I wanted to like it
Unfortunately I did not like it. For two reasons. The first being the color. In the thumbnail it shows it to be super black but in person it is gray/dark gray. The second being the feel of the button clicks but this is opinion based. I like some slight clickiness/resistance in my keyboard this had very few. If you like little to none resistance and not much clickiness and dont mind the grayish color. Its a good buy. The quality is good the red attachment keys are quite neat.

Great Performance and Quick Response
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A solid and well built keyboard that has enhanced our gaming experience. The keys are super responsive and by omitting the number keypad we have more desk space. The customizable backlit keys are vibrant and add personality to our setup. We’re already fan of HyperX products and this product both met and exceeded our expectations in functionality, performance and design quality. I would recommend this to others.

Wonderful gaming key board
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really quality keyboard in a nice compact size. The keyboard has a really sturdy feel and weight to it, and I was personally a fan of the specially designed spacebar/escape key replacement that it comes with. The keys look very nice and despite it's smaller size I had no problem typing on it. If you travel with a PC for any reason this would be the ideal keyboard for transportation. I also liked that it works on the xbox series x. If you are in the market for a mechanical keyboard this is an ideal option.

Best keyboard around
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My boyfriend who is a gamer is very impressed with this keyboard. It's a little smaller than the ones he normally uses but not by much. He likes that he can easily pack it when he goes on road trips. The keys are easy to use and sturdy. He had a problem with his last keyboard keys easily falling off. The light up keyboard fits perfectly with his set up. He couldn't be happier and he is most impressed with how well built and durable it is.
