If possible try a backpack on and maybe even load some weight in it to see how it feels. Every person has a little different back length and size to there is not a one size fits all. JanSport packs are designed to fit most 12-24 year olds so trying to fit some younger may be a challenge just from the size of the straps and the pack. A: According to the specs, the all canvas option is washable, but I sprayed mine down with Scotchguard Outdoors, which is made for heavier canvanas material

A: Is it capable yes, will th3 bottle stay inside the water bottle holder, NO! my child's40 Oz cup with open handle, always manages to come out and drop on the floor. I wouldn't recommend it, but rather a 24 Oz slender vertical bottle.
