Q: What are the age range for the different nipple flows?

A: Lactation consultants recommend using the slowest flow nipple that your baby will tolerate. Because of the unique design of Active Latch nipples, there are no recommended age ranges - the optimal flow rate is largely controlled by your baby. The choice of slow, medium, or fast is more baby-specific than age-specific. If your baby has no issue with the slow nipple, it's probably not a bad idea to stick with it. As your baby grows and, depending on the baby, may nurse more aggressively, there is a small risk they may stress the nipple excessively and risk causing tearing. If you notice that happening, we recommend moving to a faster flow rate. If your baby is becoming obviously frustrated with the slower flow, we'd recommend moving them to a higher rate. As you are experimenting with faster flows, of course keep a close eye on your little one, just to make sure they're not getting overwhelmed by too much milk!

I love using the kiinde line of products! Since I’m going to use a bag anyway, it is so much more convenient to be able to snap it into a case to hold it as a bottle and pop the nipple on top, then only worry about cleaning those parts and disposing of the bag. The convenience of only cleaning a nipple, instead of an entire bottle saves so much space and time. And breast-feeding mothers need to save as much time as they can get.

If I could give it 10 stars I would!!! I love this system it has made pumping easier and the fact that I don’t have to transfer to a bottle makes it 10 times better. My LO took to the nipple so quickly and for a breastfed baby we know the struggles of finding the right nipple, this one worked great. I get so many compliments and interested inquires on where to get it. I’m definitely going to stick with this system.

Kiinde is a great system. We frequently switch from breast to bottle daily because my daughter is in daycare. We have never had any issues. I love the convenience of pumping right into the bags and sending those bottles to daycare. I wish I would’ve had this system with my first two kids. It is so convenient and fewer dishes need to be washed which makes my life so much easier!

My baby takes to these nipples. Easy to assemble. Cap is about useless though when on the pouches, does not stay or stop milk from dripping. Once knocked over, if not picked up there will be a big puddle of wasted breast milk.

I love the kiinde latch nipple. I actually bought the whole starter kit for my 2nd child and it worked out very well. I had lost the slow nipple and needed it for my 3rd infant. My 3rd child is extremely colicky and the kiinde products are a life saver!

My babe loves this system! He is picky about bottles, but took this with no issue. I love the freedom this system allows and ease of only having to make space for one “bottle” and then I can take as many milk pouches as needed. The only issue I have is that the nipple will drip without suction, which leads me to believe the slow flow is still pretty rapid.

The base of the nipple is very wide and let’s a lot of air in baby’s mouth if not ALWAYS placed correctly which makes feeding more challenging than it should be.
