A: Hi Nancy-- thanks for your interest in the ProtectEase (tm) NexGen fitted mattress protector. We typically state that it fits up to 12" mattress sidewall depth but with the botttom edge elastication, you should be good with mattress depths up to 14 inches.

A: Hello Ann - Thank you for your interest and purchase of our ProtectEase NexGen Fitted mattress protector! Our product was designed as a "wipe clean with a damp cloth" product and is waterproof. It can be washed if needed with other linens, cold wash and TUMBLE air dry ( non-heat). However, washing should not be needed as a wipe clean with damp cloth fabric. A: The NexGen fitted mattress protector is designed to be a wipe clean with a damp cloth product. But it is actually possible to machine wash on delicate cycle warm water, then line dry (or fluff dry no heat). Too much heat will damage the waterproof film.

To answer your question, we do not recommend spaying with a disinfectant spray as we are not certain if it will affect the fabric protection. However, we do recommend using warm water with soap to clean and wipe with a damp cloth. This product was developed to be a clean and wipe with a damp cloth. A: Good question! The NexGen fabric is a non-woven polyolefin fabric. So it is constructed with all manmade synthetic "fibers". It is a composite that was designed to be lightweight, yet protective and waterproof at an Economical price.

What I was looking for
Was searching for a fitted cover similar to a fitted mattress sheet; one that hugs around the top and sides of the mattress. Also searching for something that can be wiped clean as opposed to needing a washing machine. This checked my boxes to protect my children’s brand new mattresses! It is VERY thin so be mindful with long nails. I thought I was going to rip it when putting on the bed. Also not sure how the warranty works but what about that! No accidents to rate protection so far but hopefully this does the trick.

Disappointed
I was looking for softness on top of the waterproof shield, but this item did not have it. It was like putting plastic on my bed. Very annoying when you sleep but since I don’t use these twin beds in my spare extra bedroom, I just kept it and put a padded mattress protector on top of it.

Essentially a plastic slip cover
Straight up plastic. Haven’t even put it on the bed bc it’s so bad. Will return immediately. Seems likely to rip too. Maybe it would be okay for a base layer, under another mattress protector but isn’t that getting away from the purpose? Certainly not an all in one purchase.

Very noisy, and doesn’t stay on my mattress, makes the fitted sheet slip off constantly. The only plus is that it actually is waterproof unlike other mattress protectors that leak straight through to the mattress.

Use as first line of defense
So here’s the deal with this. Yes it’s simple and scratchy plastic but it encases the mattress and should be used as the inexpensive but effective first layer around the mattress. THEN you buy a nice soft mattress pad which you can wash as necessary and is a barrier from this plastic layer which is only for utility. This system works well for us! If this plastic one gets leaked on you just sanitize with some bleach/soap/water
