Meet the Coding Critters: your first coding friends! These playful puppy pets bring early STEM concepts to preschool learning through 100% screen-free coding. Kids code along with their new pets’ storybook adventure, and help the brave Ranger and mischievous Zip have a playtime they'll never forget! Each storybook coding challenge unfolds in the Coding Critters' fun pet playset - can you code Ranger to play hide and seek, fetch a ball from the tennis ball launcher, or catch Zip after a ride down the slide? In addition to following along with the storybook's coding challenges, you can also use the pet playset to design your own code games and more! The Coding Critters also double as cute interactive pets - press Ranger's nose to activate Play Mode, where you can feed, pet, and take care of your new puppy robot pal! You can even make him dance and sing a silly song!

Cute but doesn't move like the coding mouse

My pre-k scholars love the coding mouse and I was hoping this could add some variety to their coding activities. Unfortunately, Coding Critters doesn’t move and turn like the Learning Resources coding mouse, making it difficult to use with coding mats or coding pathways. Cute but disappointed with the results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a super fun and interactive way to introduce kids to coding without a computer or tablet.

We really enjoyed doing this as a family. Both my kids enjoyed playing and coding and I enjoyed watching and laughing along side of them. This is a great way to teach younger kids to code and learn while they are having so much fun and don't even realize it's teaching them things. I recommend this to everyone who has younger children looking to learn and have a great family fun time.

I got this toy for my son on his 4th birthday a few weeks ago. He was so happy and loved playing with it. He loves dogs. Then after a few uses it stopped working. I changed the batteries twice but it still won't turn on. My baby is so sad now and I'm upset that he's upset. Don't buy this toy. It's not reliable and poorly made.
Fantastic, educational fun!

This toy is amazing! When the instructions, even an adult who knows nothing about coding can learn and have fun with the Coding Critters. My niece loves the adorable figures and can't wait to be able to visit so she can play and learn again.
Perfect for beginners!

The Learning Resources Ranger and Zip coding critters was really fun to play with. My son is 5 and he loved trying to figure out how many paw steps were needed to get to each location. (The slide, see-saw or dog house) It was a little difficult at first trying to explain code mode vs play mode but my son was able to get the hang of it quite quickly. In code mode it is a little frustrating figuring out placement for the paws to get the toys. Play mode was a ton of fun having ranger roll along throughout the house and explore. Overall it's a great educational toy for little beginners to see how things work. Pros- Easy assembly and clear instructions Cons- Sometimes the paws make it difficult for your critter to get to its destination.
Soo cute!!

I recieved the Learning Resources Coding Critters Ranger and Zip #free from #bzzagent in exchange for my honest review. The ranger and zip coding critter introduced my daughter to coding. It comes with a story book to follow along with as you code the puppy. There are 4 arrows on the puppies back to press to code different direction you want him to go. He is even dances! It also comes with a little friend, ball doghouse and bone and seesaw. This is really a good starter for learning how to code. My daughter really enjoys playing with it. I reccomend it.

This was the cutest little toy I've seen on the market in a long time. It was interactive and made for a family fun evening. From the toddler all the way to us parents. Very well constructed, the instructions are super easy to understand, and the whole concept is great!
My girls enjoyed, but my nephew will love it!

I wanted to try this because I have a 3 year old nephew that is pretty smart and thought this would be something different from toys you find in the store. We never got the chance to have him over to try it, but my 6 and 11 year olds enjoyed it (they are involved in some coding classes at school). They think their cousin will have a blast with it and can't wait for him to be able to come over to try it for himself.

My daughter loved the dog and puppy and that it moved on it's own. She didn't really play the game but she loved playing with the pieces. She sat in out kitchen floor for over an hour playing with the pieces. My daughter is eight and I feel the educational part is a little under her age range but as a toy she loved it. My neighbor brought her four year old son over and he loved it and enjoyed the game and educational part of the product.

My daughter had so much fun with this! She loves how cute the the dog and puppy are. She played beyond the coding part, which was fun, but then she just wanted to pretend play without the dogs and have them move.

The whole product was absolutely adorable, easy to set up, and fun to play with. My daughter understood the concept right away and plays with it everyday. The only thing I would change is the size of the tree trunk because it bent easily and I had to tape it to keep it standing up. Perfect toy!

Learning Resources Coding Critters Ranger and Zip is an amazing toy set. My 2 year old and 10 year old love it equally. My 10 year old finds it a fun challenge to work out the coding aspect. It comes with a book, you follow the story and code and play along with what's happening in the story. My 2 year old presses all of the buttons and gets really excited when the dog does something new, like plays music or starts moving around. I really like that this is something that can keep them occupied for long periods of time, they find it entertaining but it is also educational at the same time. This toy set will be enjoyed for a long time in this house.
