Description
What if math problems were as sweet as ice cream sundaes? That fanciful notion becomes an educational reality with the Smart Scoops Math Activity Set* from Learning Resources. Shaped like a real carton of ice cream, this set encourages kids to dish up bright, multi-colored scoops of pretend ice cream into equally colorful sundae bowls. This pretend play works side-by-side with the set’s 23 double-sided cards, which come packed with lessons and examples that parents can use to reinforce concepts ranging from sorting and color to counting and number skills. Kids can stack up the scoops by color, dish them into the corresponding colored bowl, or work on simple addition while building fun sundaes. The cards come with leveled activities, so this set grows with your child. Unlike real ice cream, the Smart Scoops Math Activity Set* is also easy to clean and store when activity time ends. Ages 3+.

I am a kindergarten teacher and got this for them to practice math skills in the classroom. I have not used it with them yet but I am sure they will love it. So far my only complaint about it is the storage container is slightly small for all of the pieces to fit inside. I wish the container were bigger to make it easier for them to clean it up on their own. I had a difficult time myself getting them all to fit in so I know they will need my help.

We love this set! I got this game for free to post about it elsewhere online, but enjoyed it so much I wanted to review it here too. It came on Christmas Eve, so I put it in with my 5 year old's other Christmas morning toys, but didn't really expect him to be too into it. However he not only liked it, he played with it more than anything else he got for Christmas! The pieces are pretty small, so I would definitely consider it a PK-2 math manipulative more than a toddler to and would recommend it be used with adult supervision only for anyone who still puts toys in their mouths. for a preschooler though, it is a wonderful math learning tool and the size makes it a great fine motor tool as well! I love that my son can work on scooping, stacking, and balancing while he is also doing sorting, counting, and pattern matching, and I think it will be great for simple addition and subtraction as well when he is ready for that. If you are looking for large play food for a toddler, this is not going to be a good fit for you. But if you are looking for a colorful and unique learning game for preschoolers through 2nd graders, I definitely recommend this set.

Since I have a second grader, we've been starting to work on math more and more latley. Unfortunatley, he loses the ability to pay attention to what I'm working on with him pretty quickly so it's been a struggle to get him to be able to sit down and listen when we are working on it at home together. When I was given this product free in exchange for my review, I was extremely excited to try it with him! It definitely did the trick! The scoops and cups are such vibrant and bright colors and I love the ice cream container they come with! They are just too cute and he loved "counting" the scoops as he put them in the box! While it says ages 3 and up, I think it's a bit advanced for my 3 year old, although he DID enjoy playing with it on his own and making ice cream for everyone! It's also nice that the cards and activities are by level so I can use harder ones as he picks up on it more! I definitely reccomend this product but give it 4 stars since it's too advanced for a 3 year old. I'd say it's for closer to age 5 and up.
Smart gift choice!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My child received the Smart Scoops Math Activity Set by Learning Resources and was immediately eager to play with it. Little did she know she would be learning from it as well. This activity set helps not only with math building skills, it also helps with learning colors and incorporating memory recall. The directions are easy to read and it really is a fun experience for both child and parent. This can help develop motor skills as well with the stacking of the ice cream scoops. My three year old loves to play with this since she doesn't associate it as a learning chore. I had no idea about this activity set before nor did I know about Learning Resources but, after receiving the product and doing some research, it looks like they have a lot of interesting activity sets for kids to learn. I would definitely recommend and purchase further activity sets for learning/playing.
I would definitely buy smart scoops math activity set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I waited awhile to write this review because I wanted to see if the "new wore off". We've been playing with this almost every day for over 3 weeks now and so far it is still fun and keeping the children's attention. It's a really neat way to learn. Very creative and keeps the kids thinking. We have really enjoyed it and I love seeing my toddler learning with this set. Very creative. We love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the idea of the game. Its great for sorting counting pattern making I don't like: the ice cream is small the scopes dont stay stacked, but they want you to make patterns on the cones. Theirs only 2 cones and 12 scopes, so you dont have enough to do small groups

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've tried DIY activity sets. And so far they've been such a good help. And now with the Smart Scoops Math Activity Set, it makes it both fun AND educational. I do little activities to stimulate my son's 3 year old mind. Get him started and ready for school in another year. I would most definitely buy again AND any others that may be available. They are very much worth the buy. It pays itself off when you notice your child actually learning! Before this program, I had no knowledge of this product. But so, so glad I do know now. I'm hoping to buy any other activity set they may have. I have a niece a year younger, and I've let my sister know about this.
