Description

Book Synopsis

Step back in time with me to 1952 Iowa Falls, Iowa. It was an idyllic time--satisfying simpler--where adventures were a kid's favorite pastime and life lessons were often learned the hard way.

This 36,000-word collection of humorous and nostalgic stories chronicles the shenanigans of a boy growing up in rural America in the 1950's. For older readers, this book will take you back to memories you probably haven't thought about in over 50 years.

My objective was to trigger those long dormant memories in boomers who relate to this time period and could then pass their own stories down to their grandchildren. Or, they could even read my stories to their grandchildren to get the conversation started.

This is the first of a four-book series that progresses through grade school, junior high and high school. Don has previously published two books: one a family memoir about his wife's battle with brain cancer, called Star Benchwarmers and a historical fiction novel of his hometown and its early settlers, titled Teachings From Pop.
