This is such an odd book. While the art is cute, it's "humor" is definitely geared toward much older kids (like teens?) or adults and it's strange to me that a board book for babies would lean more toward a romantic notion of love, versus parental love or love of friendship but that's what this one seems to do. It's about a male bug who is lonely and searching for a female bug to hug. For various reasons it doesn't work out with any of the different types of bugs he meets along the way until he finally happens upon one who looks exactly like him. I prefer reading books to my children that have some sort purpose and I just can't find that here... and the squishy foam heart on the front doesn't make up for it.
