The first part of the book seemed very "woke" and anti-masculine. I think the book fails to recognize the beinfits to masculinity and it's underlying traits. It encourages stripping away competitiveness-- Useful motivation to become better than your competitors, and in the process build a better version of yourself--, stoicism-- Useful for metal strength and turning stress into a good thing--, fortitude, logic, etc. in favor of openess and emotions. These are all traits essential to building respect and confidence in yourself as a man and building the respect of others. A emotional man merits little value.

As a woman, I wasn’t sure if this book was for me. However, as a huge fan of Justin Baldoni and all of the goodness he puts into the world, I was happy to support him and his work. I absolutely LOVED this book and could not put it down. He gives such an insightful display of what it means to be human, and how we should fight the “normal” rules society tells us every day. A must read for all.

I have loved his work from Jane the Virgin and as I began learning about his religion Bahá'í, I began to absolutely adore him. This book has blown me away. It is truly so special to see a famous man writing about the topic of masculinity. I am in awe of his vulnerability and insight. I truly believe everyone should read this book.
