The 7-piece Saturn set is exacting enough for any and all studio applications and has been thoroughly road tested by nearly every professional artist on the Mapex roster. Every Saturn component on the SW7287UTX set is finished with eight hand-rubbed coats of high gloss lacquer. This unique finishing process gives the drum a beautifully deep, high gloss, protective shine. Saturn toms and snare drums are equipped with exclusive Mapex Powerhoops. Made from 2.3mm chrome steel, the Mapex Powerhoop provides less resistance without adding unnecessary weight that may mute the drum. The tom's mount is secured via the lugs and is not drilled directly into the shell. The Mapex I.T.S. System allows the shell to vibrate freely, allowing for maximum projection and resonance. Saturn floor I.T.S. tom legs are isolated from the shell and include spring loaded feet, that enhance sustain and increase projection. The bass drum's non-penetrating double tom holder features multi-directional adjustment for precise set-up. The tom holder mechanism is also completely removable for players that prefer tom stands. The Saturn's non-penetrating I.T.S. telescopic bass drum spurs isolate the shell from additional holes and distribute the weight of the drum across existing lug mounts. All maple, lacquer finished bass drum hoops are secured by low-profile, cushioned bass drum claw hooks. Mapex's low mass lugs are secured to the shell via only one point of penetration. Fewer holes in the drum shell means less vibratory interruption, resulting in truer tone and unimpeded resonance. Saturn drum kits include double-braced 750-Series Mapex hardware. Sturdy, flexible and surprisingly lightweight, the 750 Series is ideal for touring players. All Saturn tom toms are equipped with Remo Emperor drumheads.
