Q: Will it confine the smell of cigarette smoke? We were given a mattress and box spring by a friend that smokes inside the home.
A: Depends on the pore size and size of smoke particles. Often, the drywall needs to be replaced because of odor permeation from tar (oil) which is why the walls yellow. Fabric is more porous than paint.
submitted byShopper - 7 months agoA: Hi mommabear, we do not specifically test for that, so I cannot say with certainty. This protector does have a zipper construction that fully encases your mattress which would be helpful.
submitted byAllerEase Product Expert - 6 years agoBrand expertA: No unfortunately not. But you can kill the smell of smoke by purchasing a can of Big D Industries Odor Control Fogger. It's what first responder crime scene cleanup crews use to kill the smells of decay, fire smoke, mold, etc

Q: Hello, is this really waterproof or water resistant? I have a new puppy and don't want her to pee through my sheets on to the mattress
A: No, it is not waterproof.
submitted byBBdishwasher - 5 years agoA: I have this mattress protector on my daughters bed for the same reason (in case of a puppy accident). It really is waterproof and a much better quality then the vinyl ones. It does have a more fabric like feel and while it is waterproof, a spill or accident cannot be simply wiped off and it needs to be laundered, which can be a pain, especially if on a larger bed.
submitted byJaney - 7 years agoA: It tears super easily, also only ONE side is waterproof. Drying it will melt it. It is also way too big and will cause bunching up under you while you sleep.

Q: would this cover fit on a box spring?
A: It will be baggy because a box spring is not as thick as a mattress, but if you are looking for just protection and plan on using a bed skirt to go over it then it should be fine.
submitted byJoanS - 7 years agoA: Hello, Yes, this will fit a box spring. Most of the time the box spring is not as thick/deep as a mattress so the encasement may be loose on the box spring. If you tuck the extra fabric under the mattress to give it a better appearance without affecting the performance. I hope this answers your question.
submitted byAllerEase Product Expert - 7 years agoBrand expertA: Yes, but don't get it. It's way too large, but it is basically a plastic like tissue. I put it on with the care of pantyhose and set it down like a baby. I still had holes and tears from it touching the frame, the mattress, basically anything. It also does NOT protect you from bugs (per 2 different professionals that checked it on the bed) It is NOT BED BUG CERTIFIED!!!

Q: Does just the top of this cover come off to be washed, or do you have to put the whole thing in the washer?
A: Whole thing. It is sewn in.

Q: Is the allergen barrier, etc. on all sides of the protector (the entire mattress) or only on the top?
A: Yes, you are correct.

Q: Does this mattress protector prevent off-gassing chemicals from the mattress from reaching me? Does this product off-gas? Is the laminate attached to the material using heat and pressure or chemicals?
A: Outgassing requires time, preferrably outside in sunlight for roughly two weeks. Carpeting takes two days, prior to installation. Mattress is thicker. Gas would be sealed/slow outgassing process.

Q: Does it make noise when you roll around?
A: Hello Noni, due to the friction between materials, the presence of any layer of fabric on your mattress will not be 100% silent. However, our product is designed to minimize this effect while maximizing the protective benefits it offers – the prevention of spills & stains from coming into contact with your mattress. Thank you for your question.
