Q: Hello, is this really waterproof or water resistant? I have a new puppy and don't want her to pee through my sheets on to the mattress

A: I have this mattress protector on my daughters bed for the same reason (in case of a puppy accident). It really is waterproof and a much better quality then the vinyl ones. It does have a more fabric like feel and while it is waterproof, a spill or accident cannot be simply wiped off and it needs to be laundered, which can be a pain, especially if on a larger bed.

A: Yes, but don't get it. It's way too large, but it is basically a plastic like tissue. I put it on with the care of pantyhose and set it down like a baby. I still had holes and tears from it touching the frame, the mattress, basically anything. It also does NOT protect you from bugs (per 2 different professionals that checked it on the bed) It is NOT BED BUG CERTIFIED!!!
submitted byBoymom - 5 years agoA: It will be baggy because a box spring is not as thick as a mattress, but if you are looking for just protection and plan on using a bed skirt to go over it then it should be fine.
submitted byJoanS - 6 years agoA: Hello, Yes, this will fit a box spring. Most of the time the box spring is not as thick/deep as a mattress so the encasement may be loose on the box spring. If you tuck the extra fabric under the mattress to give it a better appearance without affecting the performance. I hope this answers your question.

Mattresses are heavy these days, making the Allerease hard to get under the mattress, positioned, and zipped up, and especially so with a King size mattress. Two of us struggled to get it in position, but then the zipper got stuck 3 times and we gave up, about 1/3 zipped. It is simply too difficult with a heavy matress. The biggest flaw is the zipper, which is small when it could be bigger. It is prone to jamming on the cloth next to it; the cloth adds nothing except trouble. I'd say hire two guys who can position a heavy mattress more easily, and pay them to get it on and zipped up. Otherwise, forget about using this thing.

Got this for a full size mattress. Washed and dried on delicates and low heat. Unfortunately it still got “sticky/melted” in some small areas and creased a bit. But even so it was very difficult to get onto the mattress.

We had a middle of the night vomit incident that went through this new "waterproof" mattress protector. We had previously used a different brand for a crib/toddler mattress with great success. This was the first time this one was put to the test and it failed. It resulted in a now brightly colored mattress that I just finished scrubbing at 1am. I'd like to prevent other parents from the scrubbing if possible.

Difficult to put on--we'll see if it holds up

This mattress protector fits tightly by design to protect against allergens, but it's hard to put on--it takes 2 people to put it on a full size mattress (even says so in the directions). It was such a tight squeeze that the zipper got off track. At first I thought it was broken. We did finally get it on and zipped but I won't be surprised if the zipper gives out or the seams rip. It's really tight! The mattress is not unusually thick and it doesn't even have springs, and we had only 2 inches of memory foam on top of that. A luxurious mattress would probably not fit at all. It did wash and dry well. I was surprised that it dried as quickly as it did.

Good quality, not too noisy for a water resistant cover, but highly unlikely that it would fit a 17” deep mattress. I have a Nectar Premier Hybrid that sits 13” (more like 14 with the plush top) and it was practically an Olympic event trying to ‘stretch’ it taut enough to zip it closed. Pretty sure the tension required to fit it over the mattress is causing constant compression on the springs, which is less than ideal. I’ll be looking for a larger fit protective cover, but if you have a “thinner” mattress this would probably be ideal for a 10-12 inch depth.

This encasement has a coating that feels like plastic. It is very hot to sleep with. I can't sleep like this. I was up all night burning up. It also feels like you are sleeping on a bed of paper mache. I have had much more breatheable full encasements before that felt like fabric and not plastic. They were much more expensive. I will be returning this. I used to use these in my furnished short term rental properties but after sleeping on it myself I am rethinking it. I may just spend more so my guests are more comfortable too
