After my son played with these blocks maybe 5 times slivers on wood began splitting off the blocks. Very dangerous! I called and was told they would send replacements but don't feel safe giving these to my son to play with.

6 month old loves them! They have been great for helping her learn to grasp and of course she loves to knock them down. They even come with a great little bag to store them.

Dangerous Chemicals

I bought these for our baby snd as soon as I unwrapped the plastic, I saw that they were labeled as meeting formaldehyde safety standards. Ugh! There shouldn't be ANY formaldehyde! It's such a disappointment. The size was perfect for our six month olds but obviously we won't let any of our kids use toys made in China with toxic chemicals.

We purchased these blocks in store for a Christmas angel toy drive. When we got home we noticed the blocks were flaking off the colored paint and there was chips of wood you could see in the clear packaging. We bought Melissa and Doug for the brand name as we have had good experience with their other toys. I would not recommend these to anyone, even age appropriate at 2 years I wouldn't give my toddler something with peeling and chipped paint.

I thought there was too much on one block--drawings, numbers, more than one letter of the alphabet on each block.

I purchased these blocks for my one year old grandson . At this point he just enjoys stacking them up but it is a nice introduction to the alphabet . The blocks are solid and colorful but seem to be a tad bit on the smaller side ( from what I remember them being when my daughter was that age ).

The blocks are super cute, but I wish the edges weren't so sharp and they were a little bigger.

Perfect size for little hands. Lots to do with them...build towers, counting, look at designs and name them. 50 blocks and a storage bag.

Not only are these blocks great in developing motor skills when stacking as building blocks, but very educational as well. As with all Melissa and Doug toys, these are quality blocks.

Whenever friends and family have children, I make their child's name in blocks and glue them together so that they can put them on a bureau or on the shelf on a wall. They really appreciate them.

Paint immediately comes off

paint immediately comes off with kids placing blocks in mouth. Probably the paint is non-toxic, that's why it comes off so easy, but still disconcerning for toddlers or younger.
