Monopoly Deal is so fun! I love playing it with my friends and just introduced it to my family. I like that it is fun whether you play with one other person or a lot of people. Not colorblind friendly - Can be modified to work
Both of my sons have protanopia (one of the four types of red-green colorblindness), making some of the property set colors difficult to differentiate: green/orange and red/brown. To fix this, I wrote a letter on each of these cards to label the colors/sets. It was not a deal-breaker, as the colors are not the core mechanic of the game. However, it is irritating to have to modify almost every game we buy. It would be a very easy fix for Hasbro to add a symbol to each color, similar to the symbols Mattel added to Uno. The railroad and utility property sets already have symbols, so Hasbro could use that placement and style to add symbols to the remaining property sets. I attached pictures showing my modifications in both normal color and with a protanopia filter applied. Otherwise, the game itself is a fun, easy, quick alternative to the regular Monopoly game. It still has the cut-throat action, snowballing wealth, and sudden-reversals of fortune, but it's over before anyone can get too upset. The simpler mechanics and shorter playtime make it easier for younger kids to plan and execute a strategy. It's a great balance of strategy and luck to keep it engaging while evening out playing abilities. Gameplay has been taking us closer to 30 minutes with our family of four (kids ages 8 and 6.5), but I suspect that will drop to 15-20 minutes as strategy improves.
