  • A: Technically, I disagree with both of the "brand experts'" answers. These sponges are pure cellulose, and do not have ANY scrubbing, scratching or scraping material attached. As such, they have no component that would scratch any surface. On the other hand, they also likely will not remove baked or burned on food from your stainless steel and enamel cookware either... My "go to" for stainless, enamel AND cast iron that needs to be scrubbed is the Scotch Brite Dobie, a non-scratch, mesh-covered pad that is effective for cleaning pots without causing damage. Target carries them online.

As such, they have no component that would scratch any surface. They are great for glasses and silverware. On the other hand, these certainly will not remove baked or burned on food from your stainless steel and enamel cookware either... My "go to" for stainless, enamel AND cast iron that needs to be scrubbed is a Scotch Brite Dobie, Target Item # 75569299. It's a non-scratch, mesh-covered sponge pad great for cleaning (yes, scrubbing) pots & pans without damaging them.
