Q: Does this game require online membership to play?

submitted by jlphil - 6 years ago
  • A: It doesn't require online membership. But, I think you will have to get it in order to trade with other people around the world. To answer your question, the game is playable, even if you don't have the membership. Your Welcome!

  • A: The “AllKnowingPokemonSensei” hardly seems to know what they’re talking about. Allow me to make it clear: you DO need Nintendo Online membership if you want to Battle or Trade online with people around the world. You DO NOT need online membership to trade and battle people next to you, your systems can connect with BlueTooth. To play the regular game quest, obviously No, you don’t need Internet lol.

Love this game! I am a mom who was not into Pokemon as a child. I now have a 5 yr old son who is obsessed. This was the first game I got for him and it was the right fit! So fun. He needed help with some of the reading. It’s simple for him to play on his own though. We just recently beat it and had so much fun in doing so. I can’t speak to the online play or trading bc I don’t want him doing that. Highly recommend for a pokemon beginner!

Honestly I love the game but no star just because you can’t play the digital game if there is no wifi I bought it so I didn’t lose the physical one on this long trip but I should have bought the physical one but chose the cheaper option now I’m on this 23 hour road trip with no entertainment

I don't like that you don't battle the Pokemon to catch them. It gets repetitive fast!

It's very nostalgic for sure, but aside from that, it's been very fun to play. There's plenty to work for even after the main storyline. Then, of course, there's the cool gimmick of being able to transfer your pokemon from Pokemon Go. It comes in handy especially if you're unable to trade with others online. And it's nice to be able to play solely with Gen 1 every once in a while. Overall, just very enjoyable and relaxing.

Game comments I wasn't a huge fan of Let's GO P/E at the beginning but they are pretty good games. Fresh style, design and it makes you feel like you're in Kanto. Liking them a lot. Give them a try. Target review Recieved everything digital in almost 5 minutes. Glad of the service of Target.

This game is absolutely terrible! While the graphics are nice to look at, the game slows down while playing. It has crazy lag! Second, the idea of simply catching pokemon isn't that bad, but the mechanics make it unplayable. Playing on the TV with a joycon, my elbows hurt. You need to swipe down with the joy con in order to catch. On the system itself, you need to aim and hit the A button. Very easy, but then you have like 20 seconds of information about the 100th ratata you caught. Then it automatically joins your party and you have to click 5 buttons in order to transfer it to Oak. This game needs SERIOUS quality of life changes in order to be playable. I am VERY disappointed and wish I hadn't bought it.

Overall I think this game is really good the only thing that I am disappointed in is to trade online or battle online you need Nintendo online which is 20$ so overall you are paying 80$ total and you need Nintendo online if you want to get certain Pokémon like alakazam or gengar an alternative to this is Pokémon go but if you don’t have it those Pokémon on it either it will be a rough ride. But overall the thing I am most disappointed about is GTS it’s not in this game so you can look for a certain Pokémon that you need so there is no way to 100% complete this and if you do you need to pay minimum of 120$ for the Pokeball plus accessory that can come bundled with the game for about 100$ and you need the pokeball plus for a sing Pokémon. So overall if you are a casual player who doesn’t want to 100% complete the game go for it just pay 60$ for the game and that’s it but if you are wanting to 100% you either will spend a lot of time on Pokémon go to get all gen 1 Pokémon of spend a whopping 120$
