I wanted a lamp that was gold and black, with a rectangular shade, lined in gold. It was for my entrance hall so I wanted it to be really eye catching. I got it ALL in this lamp! I've never seen one like it. And it gives such lovely light because of the gold lined shade. In an earlier review, someone wondered if this lamp gives enough light. It holds up to a 150 watt bulb, which is pretty bright. But, I wanted ambient, subtle light, so I used a bulb with less wattage. My only "problem" with this lovely lamp is the color. It IS gold, but perhaps a bit TOO gold! I wanted a brass sort of gold, and the base is more of a reddish-gold. It isn't overwhelming, and maybe you wanted a reddish-gold color anyway! To be honest, it's a bit more than I usually pay for a lamp! It's NOT to much for a good looking lamp. It's just that I'm one of those shoppers who looks for months until I find it for less! But, when I found this jewel, I knew I had to get it and forget "shopping around." Thank you, Lamps Plus!
