  • A: In Europe a “duvet” is the thing that goes inside a cover. But because in this country, a duvet means a duvet cover, some people and manufacturers use comforter to mean a duvet insert. This has got nothing to do with Target. This is a universal issue in the USA. Also in Europe sizes are universal whereas in the USA every duvet insert/comforter and duvet cover are all different dimensions and you have to be careful to match your insert to your cover.

    I have spent hours online searching for the perfect down alternative comfortable. I went with this pick in heavy, because it looked fluffy and resembled the old fashioned comfortable comforter.     Love the weight of this comforter. It is not too hot and I live in Louisiana. It is an odd size which I like because my mattress is deep so it fits perfect. The only duvet cover I found to fit though is the one made by Casaluna. The Casaluna duvet is also nice and cool.

    This comforter is Meh

    I like the fact that the outer material is made of cotton blend, personally the amount of fill was just the right amount for me. However there is no really big difference between Casaluna and Threshold in terms of their down alternative comforters. The only difference is the stitching, the type of treatment the comforters receive and the amount of cotton used to make the cover with Casaluna being 65% cotton and 35% polyester and threshold being 60% cotton and 40% polyester beside that the fill is the exact same. The pricing is the biggest issue with threshold being about $65 after tax and Casaluna being about $125 after tax despite the fact that Casaluna advertises itself as a luxury version they are literally the exact same comforter and I personally don’t see how they can justify charging $60 more plus tax for what is essentially the exact same comforter. Side- note: Casaluna runs large on the sizing, I found it to be too big for my bed.
