Too small and smells like someone was cooking while wearing it

Open up the package and could immediately smell spices like it was made in a kitchen. I figured the smell would go away when I washed it. Then I tried it on and I don't have a big head, but it's too small and the elastic pulls my ears forward and the ear flaps don't even go over my ears. I thought maybe I accidentally ordered a child sized one, but it doesn't say anything like that in the description. I need something like this because I have Reynaud's on my nose and I have chronic burning in my nostrils so I would say it definitely helps with that and it's a nice thick fabric and nicely made. But it's not like I could wear it in public or anything because it looks ridiculous as you can see in the photos.
