From the Back Cover

FOUR QUEENS. THREE SISTERS. TWO STORIES. ONE BOOK.

Read about Fennbirn's most notorious queens before their fates were decided and their legacies written: Katharine, the undead queen. Mirabella, the powerful elemental. Arsinoe, the failed Naturalist. Elsabet, the mad oracle.

The Young Queens Mirabella, Arsinoe, and Katharine weren't always plotting each other's deaths. They used to be together, just three sisters alone in a glen. Get a rare look at the young queens--after they were born, before they were separated, during a short period of time when they protected and loved one another. From their birth until they were claimed by their families, this is the story of the three sisters' lives . . . before they were at stake.

The Oracle Queen The legendary reign of the last oracle queen is one tinged with blood and horror. Paranoid, ruthless, and utterly mad, Queen Elsabet's obsessive mistrust led to the senseless slaying of three entire houses of innocent people. At least that's the unchallenged tale carried down from generation to generation. But what really happened? Discover the true story behind the queen who, though born with the gift of sight, could not foresee her swift and sudden fall from power . . . until it was too late.

Available in print for the first time, these novellas by #1 New York Times bestselling author Kendare Blake will leave readers shocked and astounded by this newfound lore of Fennbirn, featuring queens they won't soon forget.

This is a great example of a well done novella. Most novellas are pretty pointless, and not usually written as well as the novels they accompany. These stories almost seem like they could be sprinkled in the main books as bedtime stories. They’re well written, and they explain plots that have been mentioned in the books but not thoroughly discussed. I found them very interesting. If you’re a fan of the series, definitely pick this up.
