Pyrex Easy Grab 9.5" Glass Pie Pan

Exploded in the oven while making a pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving this year! No dessert for us.

It is a nice glass deep dish pie plate. I purchased for a pecan pie and I had no spills while cooking. If you want crust on the side, make sure to use two pie crusts or a crust for deep dish. I am so happy I purchased this.

Initially very hesitant on making this purchase since I read so many of the negative reviews regarding this dish “explode.” Considering timeliness and availability of things and making last minute pre-thanksgiving purchases, I took the chance and bought not one, but two! Plus they’re sooooo affordable!!!!! I kept imagining the worst happening to me from the moment I decided on purchasing this. It specifically states to use in a pre-heated oven. I did line the bottom of my pre-heated oven with a larger baking tray and foil also just as precaution, imagining this may help prevent a mess if an explosion were to happen. Luckily I didn’t run into those “exploding” issues others have had. I made two pumpkin pecan pies that were essentially crustless, lined each with parchment paper. Pre-heated my oven to 350°F and had my Pyrex glassware on top of my stove while doing so, hoping some of the heat would slightly transfer to them so there isn’t such a temperature change. I wonder why others exploded. Whether they had it chilling in the fridge and straight into the oven can very well likely cause those drastic temperature changes. Anyways, I had no issue with my dishes. They worked wonderfully, and I can even use them as a serving platter for other things as well!

Do not buy this. My Thanksgiving pie was cooling on the counter- one hour after removing from the oven the pan exploded. Glass all over my kitchen and other pie. VERY dangerous. I cannot imagine what would have happened to me if I was standing in my kitchen.
