Great for spices!
I love these salt boxes. I use it for my staple spices I use daily. I have 2 sets and I bought them months apart. I was worried the wood would be so off but they weren't! They are a walnut color. I applied some mineral oil on them to keep them from not looking dry(did this only once). They are also very sturdy i have toddler boys and they all have thrown them on the floor. No issues or cracks.

After recieving this I would say ignore the 5 star reviews. Arrived with much lighter color and greater variation than shown. The image online looks like smooth, well finished wood. Real product is a little rough and really dry and dusty looking. Kind of lightweight/cheap more like balsa wood. I put a little cutting board oil on it prior to my photos which helped a little visually, but now it's greasy. The quality is just meh, but it works for now until I find an upgrade.

Color NOTHING like photo
I wasn't too happy with this purchase. The boxes are not at all like the photo. The lid on mine was very light and each box is different in tone, all three having both very light, medium, and dark tones. The boxes are very dull and don't look finished properly. I am very disappointed. Also, the boxes fit loosely together, not tightly.
