Engaging for the whole family
We have played this game a handful of times, always suggested by my 6 year old daughter. This game is a mix of memory, strategy and luck, with a new game experience each time! The colorful images in the directions helped setup and play go smoothly. My kids (6 and 8) had fun competing to find their animals first and stayed engaged with the hazards and squid cards hidden among the animal cards. The pieces and pictures are high quality making it a not only a fun, but good looking game!

A great game with a twist on memory and mystery
We are a family that loves playing board games. What I loved most was that my 11yr old and 9yr old could easily learn the rules and were excited to play. The game had a great feel. It mixed memory, some luck, and strategy, all while the kiddos learned about the ocean and creatures within. We had a blast playing and the kids asked to go again! I love that we can turn off all electronics and just sit together as a family and enjoy an underwater adventure game.

Fun and Educational!
The Search for the Giant Squid game is welcome addition to any game closet. We loved the concept and gameplay of this game. Though solo play may be hard for the younger crowd (6 year old), one of the best parts is that you can play cooperatively as a family! We loved this for our youngest child until he gets the hang of it. As a teacher, I loved the discovery cards. These utilized an included field guide to learn more about the ocean animals, parts of the ocean, and more. Awesome game!

Great for a verity of ages!
I played this game with my 3 kids ages 12, 10 and 5. All 3 really enjoyed it. The game says for ages 6 plus but my 5 year old was able to understand it and enjoyed playing it. I really liked the game could be played individually or as a co-op if preferred. The instructions were easy to follow. We were able to figure out the rules within a few minutes. I do like it when games have a QR code with an instruction video so I do wish that had been included. Overall great game.

Fun, engaging, collaborative game
I love the collaborative nature of the game, and it was great that my kids (8 and 10) could learn the rules so quickly. The gameplay is simple but still engaging for adults, and working together makes every round feel fun and rewarding. It's a perfectly paced, family-friendly game that we now reach for often on game night.

Fun, Exciting & Unpredictable Game w a Bit of Ocean Exploration
What I loved most about playing this game was how it managed to feel exciting, thoughtful, and unpredictable all at once. Kids from 7-9 were all engaged. The game blends memory & luck, which I love, but can frustrate some kiddos. You can plan your moves, remember card positions, & still get surprised by a lucky find or hazard. It's easy to learn & you can start playing almost right away. I love how you learn about marine life & the mysteries of the deep ocean. Perfect for families & connection!

Fun new game
We have three kids, 10, 9, and 5. We play board games as a family often and the kids also love playing games amongst themselves. Any time a new game comes into the house everyone wants to try it out asap. Search for the Giant Squid is a fun and relatively easy game to play. It took a few minutes to setup the board according to the directions, but once we understood how to play it went well. My 5 year old needed extra help understanding, which makes sense since the game is recommended for 6+.

Great game for all minds
Search for the Giant Squid was a very fun game! I love how it combines memory and strategy as well as some pure luck. It took a whole game for us to really figure out the rules and how it works. We were able to play more strategically the next time. I love that we can play against each other as well as collaboratively. The images on the game pieces are really beautiful as well. I also loved that we were learning more about real sea life while we played. A very fun game!

Lots of fun once we got started
I was hesitant about this game when we started because of all the pieces, but my 6 and 8 year old and I quickly assembled everything and got started. It took about one rotation before we really figured it out. Once we understood we really started enjoying ourselves. I liked that there were two ways you could win. It was like advanced memory with strategy involved. I like that each time we play will be a new challenge. My kids were excited about all the different animals they got to discover.

A fun game - memory with a twist!
This game quickly pulled my 5 yo and 8 yo into play. It's a mixture of memory, strategy and luck. The instruction manual definitely could have been better. We ended up looking up how to play on YouTube because we couldn't figure it out from the booklet but after a few rounds, the gameplay felt natural and lively. The rules clicked quickly once we started playing. The game held my kid's attention and we had a great time playing as a family!

Fun Family Game
Upon opening this game I was immediately impressed with the quality of the board and game pieces. It is sturdy and well made. My children all joined in and were very excited by the look of the game. The gameplay itself was very simple to figure out, so we were all able to play it pretty quickly, even the 4 year old. My only complaint is that it is very simple and was less engaging for adults. Overall, we recommend this game and my children keep coming back to it to play again.

Fun family game!
Out of the box this game felt high quality with engaging colors and pieces. Set up is easy though the rules are a bit complicated on the first play, it took us a bit to get going. Once we did, we had fun exploring the ocean and trying to remember what we had uncovered! My 6yo needed just a bit of help, and my 8yo was reminding us how to play. We learned fun facts and helped each other out, though the facts are somewhat superfluous to game play. The kids asked to play again right away!

Quick and fun for all
Mom of a 6 and 8 year old here who love to play games. We've played this game a few times now and really enjoy it. Good quality board and pieces that seem like they'll last. Set up was fairly easy and we got started after about 5 minutes of reading instructions. Our 6 year old was able to play a round on her own, though prefers the cooperative version. Love the memory aspect of the game and how quick the game is. We've had some good laughs especially when someone else had to start over!

Both my boys are obsessed & happily playing together
We're a board game loving family. As soon as my 8 & 12 year olds saw the box for Search for a Giant Squid: The Game, they were begging to play. We were able to quickly set up and figure out the rules immediately. One child gravitates towards strategy-based games while our other prefers luck. This game was the perfect mix. As a mom, I was excited they were sereptitiously learning. Our favorite part is the fact that there are rules for both cooperative and competitive play- both are fun!

A great addition to family board game nights!
Our family has been enjoying this game every night since we received it! The game is essentially a mash up of several types of games--memory, strategy, etc. Both our 6 year old and 8 year old are able to grasp the rules and participate fully in the game. They both like that the game is like solving a mystery and that it contains strange sea creatures! As parents, we love that the game doesn't drag on (averaging 15-20 min) and that there are so many unique facts that they're learning!

Family-friendly, short and sweet
My family enjoyed playing this game. We liked that it had the option to work together towards the same objectives but also the option to play competitively. The game comes with a book of facts about the animals that you encounter, which adds to the immersiveness of being scientists. The rules are simple to follow and to explain, and we did not have to continually consult the rulebook once play began. It is a nice, short and sweet game with enough variation each time.

Great twist in a memory game
This is a fun twist on memory games. My 10year old really enjoyed this game. He really picked it up quickly. Even his 5 year old sisters wanted to play. It was a bit too hard for them but they still enjoyed watching. The added component of strategy made the game even more fun to play. Finding the giant squid adds another way to win the game so it keeps kids who can struggle with losing games. There are multiple ways to win so they feel like there is always a chance.

Easy and Educational
I have a low tolerance for games that take a long time to learn or set up, so I was happy that this game was easy enough to teach to even our 3-year-old. In fact, she kept pulling out the game and asking to play! I liked that there wasn't a competitive or cut-throat feeling to this game because that always turns me off quickly. It even has a collaborative version that you can choose to play which is perfect for little ones. It's educational, but the facts will likely become repetitive over time.

Really fun game, not like any other we've played!
The quality of the game is top notch. The box, the board, and all the pieces are sturdy and beautiful. It took us some time to get the hang of the game play and we're still not entirely sure when to replace the gears, but overall it's engaging for all of us.My 11 year old son really started using some strategy while my 5 year old just had fun playing with us and liked the memory aspect of the game. It's nice to have a game the entire family can play together and everyone actually likes it!

Intriguing and always a unique path to the end. Spectacular to play and love that there is also a SEARCH FOR A GIANT SQUID book.
