Q: does it work better than old game

A: No it doesn't. The hippo heads get stuck and the mechanism to pop the balls back into the pit doesn't work well. More cheaply made than the 90s version.

I love the thoughtful storage and travel features. The levers fold and the marble container fits right into the center of the game for easy storage in its original box.

Happy to get product, no thanks to store employee
I went to Target in Hagerstown to purchase Hungry, Hungry Hippo. It was out of stock on the shelf, so I asked an employee in the toy area to check her device to see if it was back stocked. She claimed that there were no more of the games in the back, but I sensed she was deceiving me. I thanked her, and then, standing in the store, I ordered the game online for drive-up pickup. Lo and behold, 2 hours later, I received an email that my order was fulfilled and ready for pickup. I am glad I was able to purchase the game, but I am disappointed and annoyed at the lack of instore customer service, which required an unnecessary return trip to the store. Other customers may not have tried to order the product online, and Target would have lost the sale.
