Should have read reviews
This is a very different game than the original Stratego. Provides instructions for the original game, but not enough pieces to play it. The red pieces are really hard to read with the white paint, not to mention all the units have their order reversed. I wish they would have named it something else.

Modern version is backwards, literally
I hate the shape of the pieces. I hate that they reversed the order of the ranks which really confused me and makes it difficult for me to teach it to my kids. For example, the Miner was 8 but now it's 2. The Marshall was 1 but now its 10. There is a guide on the board showing how many of each piece with the number rank but it doesnt write down the name of the pieces on the board. So I'll have to use the instruction book for a while to refer to which piece is which. I would rather have the old version. The addition of the cards is "doing too much". The game was fine and I don't like the changes.

If chess and battleship had a baby 🤪
Stratego board game. This is like chess but with a twist. You don’t know what your opponent has until you attack them. Reminds me of that way with battleship. The game is a 2 player game. It takes a little to get used to but it is a fun game.

Great Classic Game - BUT THIS VERSION ONLY HAS 30 PIECES Per Player (ORIGINAL HAD 40)
Great, classic game with addition of some cards (optional) , BUT the original Stratego (debuted waay back in 1946, and in print continuously around the world since then) had FORTY (40) game pieces per player (set up as 4 rows of 10 each player) and this REVISED, SHORTER VERSION has ONLY THIRTY (30) pieces per player (3 rows of 10). Still a great game, shorter playing time now, pieces are nice printed towers (without the cheap cardboard inserts or stickers used on more recent versions). You can easily buy a used, older version from tge 1980s or 1970s if you want all 40 pieces per player (and of course can follow the revised rules - download free from publisher website - to play shorter game and remove 10 pieces per player, and not use outer row on each side if board, reducing it to 8 rows like this revised version.) HAVE FUN!

Strategic
We got this game a while back and never played. We finally played and my kids are addicted now! We have played every night after or before dinner. It’s easy enough like chess where each piece has its role. They are 11 and 9 and understand you have to be strategic in your placement of your pieces from the beginning of the game for you to win.

Great additions to a classic game!
I grew up on Stratego and while I don’t have my original game this version brought up all those great memories. This version does have 30 pieces versus the older version, which makes for a quicker game play that we all enjoyed. The strategy cards are also new but they make the gameplay that much more exciting! Overall I think this was a great upgrade to the game and would recommend for anyone looking for a two player tabletop game.

Incorrect instructions
The instructions don’t match the classic version. They mention a screen and the wrong number of pieces.

Fun Quick Game of Laughs!
Fun quick game that is like a combination of memory, chess and checkers. I wish there was a card that told you the names of each piece along woth a picture, but overall my 12 year old and i had a lot of fun strategizing and trying to remember where each piece we jusr attacked was.

Looks interesting if we had instructions
My children are at the age that we can start to play more “adult” complex board games. I had never heard of Stratego before, it look like an interesting game to play. Unfortunately, my game did not come with instruction at all, even though the box says it should. I checked through the cards to make sure that the instructions were not printed on a card, but nope nothing. The game seems sturdy and interesting, just wish I knew how to play.

Great Strategic Family Game
I absolutely love playing this game with my kids! We're a very competitive family, so we have a blast trying to see who's the best. The next person always plays the winner to determine the champion of the house.

Stratego
A great game to teach strategy and problem solving. Stratego is a classic board game of war that is great for ages eight and up. My teenagers love to battle each other. As a mom I love the problem solving and logical thinking needed to play the game.

Fun Game. Love the variety of ways to play.
This was the first time playing ever playing Stratego so I can't compare to the original version but we loved that there was an option of playing two different ways. My teen daughter and I played at the park while the little ones played and it was the perfect length and set up. It does take a bit to figure out how to play, lots of reading of the rules but overall we enjoyed the game play.

Classic with a twist
This is a classic game that my kids love! It's great for a wide range of ages (my kids range from 9-20) and it's easy to catch on to! The battle cards in this edition make for a whole new level of fun.

Fun but you have to give it some time
This game takes a lot of effort to understand but once you (and your opponent) do, it is fun. Make sure to read all of the rules before you start and then re-read them. The box is nice and organized so you should be able to keep all of the pieces in order. Give it a try!

Like chess, but better
My son loves this game. He’s played it with his grandfather so imagine his excitement when he got his own. He said mom I love chess but this is way better! I think this is a great gift for an older child, he is 10.5 and rates it a 10/10.

Dinner time fun!
Great game! It’s a quick but fun game. My kids like that it doesn’t take to long to play like monopoly/life and games like that. They can set up and play while I’m cooking dinner and the game finishes up when I’m done cooking! I would recommend it for older children.

Fun and well made game!
This is a really well made game. If you have never played, you can sort of think of it as checkers with more of a story line and more rules and features. The game is rated 8+, and I think that is accurate. I tried to teach my very smart 6 year old to play, and it was a little much for him. He got the idea of how to move the pieces around and he understood the goal, but all of the different abilities and exceptions of the pieces was too much to keep track of. If you're patient about learning rules and you like strategy games, you will love this game. The pieces and board are well made and high quality and will last a long time.

Super fun , easy to learn and pushes you to think strategically
Super fun game . So easy to learn and appeals to all age group. It has an extended version so if you want to make it more fun you can use the deck , but it’s fun otherwise too. The pieces are well made and bigger than the usual version of this game . It’s a great game and super fun. The best part is it makes you think and design the strategy so it’s cool. My kids love it and we all enjoyed it as family
